This thread is for listing common problems Frontiers experience and their solutions. I will try to update this post to list the problems and link to the solution post or thread. This thread is not for chit-chat or rare problems. This is for common problems and their solutions. Thanks.

what ever came of the "wiggly" front passenger seat? mine drives me nuts! truck has 1500 miles on it.

Have you been able to fix the "wiggley seat" issue you have? Your description is the closest to what I'm experiencing with my '09 CC. Whenever I come to a stop it seems like the car (maybe the seat) has to kinda shift a little forward creating a harder, shifting feeling backwards whenever I accelerate from a dead stop. The best way to describe it is that its like feeling you have something failry heavy in the bed that rolls to the front and to the back with every slightly hard to hard stop. I'm not a car expert by any means but I typically have some general idea what's going on, but not on this one. Can you OR ANYONE help clue me in to what the problem is and how to fix it? I've only had the car for 700 miles and its already driving me crazy. I'd like to have an idea before taking it into the dealership (if they'd even fix it). Thanks!

I think I have the same problem. When I took it in to the dealer they told me it was drive shaft lash and it was a common thing ??????????
Feels like the seat is loose.
Any fixes......

Tried to install a 12v lead to cab and when I got done the Service soon light stays on....... Must have done something #$@%^@#$%@#$^*

Any body know how to turn off

Thanks

Service engine soon light 2007 SE

My service engine soon light just came on. I took it into shop, they think its the leveling sensor. At $500 I decided not to fix and check this site to see if others had the same problem.

Also my radiator was bone dry on coolant. Don't know whats up with that. 85,000 miles. I refilled and seems to be ok now.

Thanks for the info!

Exhaust Manifold Cracking - pics

Here's a pic of the stock (and presumably orig) rt side exh mani off my 2001, 3.3l. It has 84k mi on the clock, I bought it at 80k.

Pic 298 is the top view, not the major crack between the #1 and #3 ports.
Pic 299 is from the bottom, showing a smaller but serious crack on the underside as well.

Lacking the air tools, blowtorch, lift, and all those other things (including patience, and, errr, skill) required to deal with this, I paid my friendly local Brakes Plus shop about $350 P&L. Ugh.

My '08 Nismo had this problem when I first bought it (at 19K miles) and I could tell it sounded like sticky lifters.

CD2 Oil Detergent is MAGIC for this kind of thing! If it is a fouled oil passage or garbage buildup, etc. it WILL remove it. It just won't fix a real mechanical problem.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A couple oil changes ago I added 1 bottle of CD2 Oil Detergent (AutoZone, about $3) and the sticky lifter slowly freed up over about a 2 week period. NO MORE sticky lifter noise when the motor started.
I recently changed the oil again and did it myself this time. WOW! WAS IT FILTHY! I was kind of shocked since this truck only has 28K miles now and the oil HAS been changed at regular intervals.
Still, no more sticky lifter tapping / knocking sound. I added another bottle of the CD2 Oil Detergent and will probably change this oil a little soon. It seems like the Nissan 4.0L motors build up a bunch of gum / sludge / varnish for some reason. That CD2 Oil Detergent knocked it down for sure.
Just for reference, the oil was so filthy it looked like it hadn't been changed in probably 20K miles. It was that nasty. Kind of shocked me.
Sounds like a belt problem. Could be old, dry, etc.
One old mechanic's trick is to take a bar of soap (DRY) and just rub a little on the belt side that contacts the pulleys (maybe both sides for a serpentine). MAKE SURE THE MOTOR IS NOT RUNNING WHEN YOU DO THIS! You also don't need to do a large section of the belt. A small patch is enough.
IF that solves the problem then you know the belt might need to be changed, or get some "belt dressing" from your auto parts store.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If that doesn't work then I would start looking at mechanical issues. Possibly with the power steering unit or rack.

Here's my submission after 500 or so miles on my new truck:

1. Startup timing chain, waiting for oil pressure to build up, annoying, unnerving cold metal-on-metal slap for about 1-2 seconds. Quick turn of the key without actually starting, and then starting for good seems to solve this problem, but is an UNSATISFACTORY solution for what is clearly an engineering problem that Nissan has failed to address for years. My 2000 3.3 Desert Runner did EXACTLY THE SAME THING. NISSAN - LISTEN UP! I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER NISSAN PRODUCT IF THIS IS WHAT I CAN EXPECT.

2. Slight knock when coming to a stop or taking off. Sounds like someone thumping their finger on a peice of plastic. Cleaned out the glove box, storage bins, and floor-mats. Removed EVERYTHING LOOSE in the truck. Clearly a suspension noise, and not "GAS Slap" - happens when tank is empty or full. Sounds almost like the torque of stopping or taking off causes the drive train to shift backward or forward in the chassis. Not a really loud sound, but loud enough to know it's there. There are a lot of folks saying that this is a problem. It's not the plastic fender wells or anything underneath as far as I can tell.

Number 1 is an old topic and nobody has proven that it is causing any damage...only that the sound is bothersome.

Number 2 is either your ABS self-test as you start off, or your utilitrack covers in the bed sliding back and forth as you speed up/slow down...not kidding. They are both common topics of discussion and a search here should produce some results and talking points for your reference.

Those were my only thoughts...good luck in resolving the problem.

When its cold outside and i go to fill up. My nozzle makes a "Gush" sound and then spews fuel all over my hand and down the side of my bed. Its done this 4 times in the last week.

Is it just because of the pressure building up from the cold weather and when i turn on my vehicle and drive. The pressure rises and when the pressurized air is let out. Or am i missing something...???

1. Engine knock in some trucks. Not just at start-up.
2. Noise in dash, like a finger taping the dash somewhere.
3. Squeaks, Dash
4. Rubber around door rips near door catch
5. Design flaws (in my opinoin), Center arm rest is back to far & too low. Side mirrors control on dash, should be on door, like a Titan. Only drivers door can be opened by the key(2010 anyway). Gas shuts off when filling tank several times each fill-up. But They LOOK Great!:)

I had some warranty work done on the rear axle at 37k.
I drove straight from Washington state to Louisiana with only one stop that lasted more than 10 minutes which was in Denver for a few hours. While I was on the road I noticed some fluid had leaked out and caused dust to stick on at least one of my rear wheels. I had a dealer check it out when I got to Louisiana and here's what they replaced:

2x SENSOR ROTOR - AN
2x SEAL - OIL REAR A
2x SPACER AXLE BRG
2x BEARING - REAR AX
3x SYNTHETIC 75W14

The descriptions are cut off because that's the way they are on my receipt.

Is this a problem others have had?
Was it due to the long drive?
...or maybe the rear axle vent?

Any Comments?
