I had the same problem a month ago. Tried put it off by doing the slam trick and ended up getting the same one off Amazon. Easy fix and works like a charm.

I just took mine apart after watching a YouTube video. The guy explained how grease makes its way into the brushes for the motor, causing it to lose contact, making the window work intermittently.

I took it all apart, looked inside the motor and there was some grease but not much. I cleaned it up and slapped it back together but still much of the same.

I remembered noticing that one of the brushes looked shorter than the other, so I opened it up again, manipulated the spring holding the brush so that it pushed it out further to guarantee contact. Back together and now works just like it should.

In hindsight, should have just ordered a new one and been done with it, since those brushes are not going to last much longer. At best I bet I got another 1000 uses out of the motor.

you know. i almost pulled mine apart and tried something like that.

buuuut i was sitting on amazon and for 50$ and the oem one lasted since 2005. eh ill take it.

I pulled the passenger one off and used some emery cloth and 2k grit sandpaper and smoothed out the commutator as from factory it's fairly rough and slowly grinds the brushes to nothing.

I cleaned the driver's side grooves between the commutator back in 2016 and it worked for another two years before failing. Then I replaced with a Cardone brand one iirc from CARiD for around $50 with a discount. I pulled that one apart and checked out the commutator and seen it was baby butt smooth from factory so reassembled and put back in. It's about a second faster than the passenger side but the passenger side had lots of carbon brush left so I'm leaving it.

When removing the motor I found that carpenters shims (like $2/dozen at Lowes or Home Depot) work awesome to wedge in the window track against the glass to hold it up while working on the guts.

The Dorman unit on amazon mentions "Notes: w/2 Pin Connector"...So are there different connectors? @ 200k miles my old girl wants a new window motor...https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00412YT8W had to drive home from my commute @ 2am w/the window stuck down in 40 degree interstate travel for 40 miles the other night, fun times!

There's only two pins on the motor for 2006 Frontier. cd85233 who started this discussion has an excellent PDF set of pictures and instructions. Have patience, it's a pain in the butt to replace.
You can try hitting the door near the bottom several times then try to raise the window. Honestly, it worked for me a couple of times before I pulled the regulator and cleaned it in 2016. It's still working.

I was out filling up the ol Frontier in the middle of a snow storm, on the way home I decided to grab some hot chocolates for my kids and a cappuccino for the wife at the coffee shop drive-through. When I went to leave the drive-though, my window decided now was a great time to not work. Fun. Puking snow and weather heading for the negatives over the next few days, I changed my plans to see what I could do to temporarily fix this issue; living in a small town, it takes days to get parts, sometimes weeks,

Anyways, I thought I would check a few videos out on Youtube to see how to pull the panel and the window regulator/motor when I came across an interesting video where a guy took apart his window motor and the issue was that grease from the spindle had worked its way past the dust seal and gummed up the brushes, preventing the voltage from passing through and therefore the motor wouldn't run. Having nothing to lose, I gave it a try and sure enough, grease had gummed up the brushes and after a thorough cleaning, I now have a window working again. The wife rewarded me. nudge nudge wink wink.

Motor cleaning:

Pulling the regulator out. This guy suggested cutting the regulator cables if the motor is completely dead, but I was able to lift the window/regulator up high enough to get one bolt out and then I drilled a large hole to get the second bolt out that affixes the window to the regulator.

Just above the bottom two regulator bolt holes, you can see the hole I drilled to get the last window bolt out as my motor was completely dead.

Here is the regulator and motor assembly, with the motor pulled apart.

Here is the inside of the motor and the grease that worked its way past the seal after 12 years. Brake clean, wiping, and some steel wool to clean up the brushes and the motor works good again. I also regreased the regulator and now the window slides good as new.

Funny that I am going to post in this thread again. Even though there is a warning that I should start a new thread. I think that keeping all the info for a single topic in one place is better than spreading it all over the forum is better for future searches.

Any ways..
I have posted in this thread before when my driver side window died. Funny that it was in a white out snow storm going through a drive-thru like Zebra posted above. My passenger side has been getting slower and slower. THis weekend it was snowing, cold, and rainy and my passenger side window was almost non functional; down was ok but up was painfully slow. This morning everything was fogged up an the temp had risen a tad above freezing. Asked my son to roll down the window and wipe off the rear view mirror and sure enough it didn't want to come up. He panicked and starting pulling up on the glass. He was in the truck when my driver side fail and was traumatized.

I think that I am going to NOT buy a new motor/regulator and try to fix it based on all the previous post. Thank you @Zedbra for some of those links. Been reading that our current supply chain issues is basic due to us buying TOO MUCH CRAP. Repair not replace.

That new message just started up a few weeks ago, trying to prevent a lot of older necro posts.

Anyways - as an update, my repair did not last long, but it was long enough to get me through the winter. AT that time, I just replaced the whole motor and regulator. Easy job - easier when you drill the hole to remove the one bolt.

Here's a rough how to change a window regulator and motor on an 05+ Nissan frontier. When I meant rough, I meant ROUGH. I woke up at about 5 AM to do this since I couldn't sleep knowing I had parts to install on my truck! That and in AZ that's about the only time to work on your car without dying of heat exhaustion!

I did it on my KC, but I don't see why it would change on a CC.

There are not pictures on the forum guide, but I attached a pdf with full picture. Feel free to PM me if you have questions, or simply post here.

As always, I enjoy working on my truck and enjoy sharing my experience. But, if you feel like it's not worth your time, please do not post and negative feedback that isn't constructive. Enjoy.

After worrying that I was going to be stopped by a police officer and get shot because I couldn’t lower my windows and that they are too dark, I finally jumped the gun and changed my regulator and motor. I was not sure which one was bad, so I just bought both together here:

2005 Nissan Frontier Window Regulator POWER with MOTOR FRONT Door Driver Side at 1AAuto.com.

Beware that this is for the driver side, if you need the passenger side, look on that side for that part.

Here’s a little guide I put together for you guys and hope that it helps you out. I couldn’t find one on here so I figured what the heck why not? It takes about 45 minutes doing it alone and probably about 35 if someone else helps you.

1) Start by taking the chrome plastic plate on the door handle off (not the actual door handle). Then take the black plastic plate behind the handle off too. Don’t mind the Wire sticking out, that’s from another mod I did (adding LED to the door handles) . Not shown in the picture, but important is to remove the window and door switches. This is done by lifting the plastic off and then disconnecting the wiring harness.
2) Now take the door armrest off. Pull up with some force, it will come out. Now you will expose 2 screws (only 1 can be seen in the picture).
3) Now carefully pull the door panel off to expose the screws and holes we need to use.
4) Lower you window so that you can see the two screws holding the glass onto the regulator.

5) Your windows will be at about this level. Put tape around it the window to hold it in place so that it does not fall down.

6) Remove the two screws and now take the tape off and manually move the window to the top and again hold it there with tape. This is much easier if you have another person with you, but I did it alone so thus it can be done.

7) There are four screws holding the regulator onto the door. Remove them to release the regulator.

8) There are three screws holding the motor onto the door. Take them off to release it. But do not remove it yet.

9) Remove the wiring harness from the motor.

10) There are a few little clips holding the motor on, lift the motor up and they will release. (the tape is from when I previously was working to get some of the rattling out of the car after installing a semi-decent sound system.)

11) Now everything is free to be taken out. Use the large hole on the bottom left to take the motor and actuator out. Here’s what it will look like.

12) This is an overall picture showing where everything is. (the numbers represent what step they depict)

13) Reverse the steps in logical order to put the new motor and regulator on.

Thanks for this. This is one of a few things I need to do on my newly acquired 2007. Saving this for when the part comes in.
