Has anybody either cut their tailpipe off or installed a tip?

LOL Zed.

It's just a very uninspiring exhaust pipe coming from the back. Looks like a growth coming down at a weird angle and then getting wider in it's last few inches.

Debating cutting the end off, painting it black to blend in under the truck.
I would say put a nice black exhaust tip on, but the weird angle the Frontier's exhaust sticks down at, that might even look more weird. LOL

Chopped it off 10 minutes before leaving for the Rubicon trail.

Wanted to follow up on this. When I cut the exhaust, the angle and length was such that it was pointed at my rear spring bushing. My spring bushing has since melted. It didn't result in a catastrophic failure or anything like that, and I have yet many miles on the melted bushing, but be wary of this if chopping off the tip!

Before my Morrison jeep trail trip Wyoming/Montanna I removed my tail pipe...as it kept bashing into the lower rear of the bed when off-roading and installed a turn down tip on the muffler.

For you folkss w/ toppers that have also installed a pre-axle exhaust turn-down, have you ever smelled exhaust while cruising if you slide your rear cab window open?

Yeah mine just has the flared end pipe.
Again my issue is it just sticks down at an odd angle.
I'd rather just cut the end off and put a down angle black tip so it can't really be seen (or maybe just a bit) but the down tip directs the exhaust toward the ground and out the rear still.

On a side note:
I really like the Borla S-Type Cat Back exhaust too.
The chrome black tips looks great.
But the exit point seems very close to the right rear lower quarter panel and the exhaust seems directed right toward the rear bumper. Not sure if this will darken the rear bumper and lower quarter panel with black exhaust residue.
Wonder how it sounds. Borla's usually sound quite nice.

Looks like it had a lot of drag before it got broken in

The Xterra stock exhaust is pretty close to being a turn down tip at the rear. Tucked up nice and neat under the bumper. Anyone know if that part would fit on a frontier?

I cut the last 2 feet off about 10 days ago..
Cut it just behind the last hanger.
You can't see it at all from behind the truck this way but you can see it through the rear tire well, so I painted that part black.
Didn't want to cut too much off because I didn't want exhaust fumes to come up under the truck or into the cab when idling at a light or something, I still wanted the exhaust to exit towards the rear.
This had zero effect on sound but accomplished exactly what I wanted....you can't see the exhaust pipe sticking out the back at a weird angle.

aFe Power something something resonator tip, found this one on special for $45 and grabbed it. 3" to 4" tip with Auto Dynasty cat back SS 2.5" to 3" exhaust. FYI stay away from the under $200 buck cat back by Auto Dynasty or DNA monitoring, fitment is off, had to pay a local shop to weld/fix that for another $75 and such a horrible drone sound at 2200 rpm that you'll want to stick a screw driver in your ear. After the sale they will provide no response or solution. Before next winter I'll be taking it off and selling if for scrap metal.

You get what you pay for. Never even heard of that brand or company. I have been happy with my Gibson cat back exhaust, customer service was excellent. A hanger was not lining up and I paid to have one welded on and they sent me an upgraded exhaust tip. One that is better looking then the one that came in the kit. Best part one drone.

So when I had a large weld go back on the stock exhaust, had to replace it, the 4" hole was on the front side of the muffler under pass seat. Here are the photos of the ones I had to pick from.
MVP, DNA Motoring, MBRP and Auto Dynasty (in order with photos) Cost was approx for each $180, 185, 430, 185.
All are T409 SS, 2.5" dual inlet to 3", the muffler style is looking identical and same with hangers/parts.

I cut mine up high under the bed and meant to put a 45 down but forgot. My license plate light assembly keeps getting popped out so i assume its getting hot and the clip is flexing and letting it pop out. One day i will clamp a cheap autopart store tip on or maybe get really bor d and weld a turn down on.
