They have Consult. I've never seen a working copy that can used on a laptop unlike Techstream. I have Techstream on a couple of laptops that I use for my Camry and previous Tundra.
Off topic.... I remember you on the Tundra forum. I'm still there actually. A lot. Every day. I know three Colorado moderators personally. I'm member #378. We have over 90,000 members now. Do you ever go back and connect with your Great White North brethren?

Mostly go back and answer questions in the "ask a Toyota Mechanic" thread. Since I've retired (55 and carpal tunnel in both hands). I've lost my infostream access so not as active but I do help out when I can.

That's great to hear. There is a lot of related info/questions on T.com that can be found by members here and visa versa on this forum. Shared knowledge in general terms is always a good thing. (y)
I have a Frontier build thread on "other builds" on T.com. At least three members there saw my build thread and dumped their Tundras for the new Frontier.

That's funny that some member have dropped there Tundras for Frontiers. I have my Father in laws 2016 Tundra OffRoad that is up for sale. The Tundra only has 20K on it and is completely stock. I could choose to buy it and sell my 2022 Frontier but the Frontier rides better, quieter in the cab and is getting 5mpg better. I'm keeping the Frontier. I was also surprised to find the Kelly Blue Book pricing was almost the same for both trucks.

Tundra's bring good money used. I got $2500 more than what I paid for my 14 after owning it for two years. I was ready to downsize and the Frontier fit the bill.

I've tried OBDllFussion with Nissan enhanced PIDs and no luck with trans temps. What are you using?
I have a Launch Diagun V - but by no means do you need one at that cost and I am not recommending it as the end all be all. There are a bunch of cheaper launch, autell, thinktools, and others I am sure I am missing. People I think are also getting trans temp on their scan gauge. The key is you need a scanner that can access modules other than just the ecu.

Scan Guage Transmission Temp

It's not that hard a basic infared thermometer could read the pan temp or any other of a dozen ways to read transmission fluid temp when doing a fill level check.

You can get consult and it can go on a laptop

Specs and pricing are here

A good off the shelf scan tool can also do most everything the consult can do for the home gamer. I would not recommend consult to the home gamer unless they are very very tech savvy and actually have worked with this kind of software before. Like all mfg's software it is not easy or cheap to get working. Add in Nissan is NOT good on the software or documentation side compared to most other manufacturers and well good luck.

Consult 4 from Nissan for $1550 a year is not a viable option unless you are working on Nissans daily. I can get Techstream at no cost and have 90% of the capability I had at the dealership. I would love to find a free version of Consult 4.

You can get it for smaller amounts of time and lower cost. For 90% functionality get a good quality aftermarket bi directional all module scan tool. Added bonus it will work on non Nissans also. Look over the brands I mentioned earlier.

Finally, after several unsuccessful attempts last year, I had the recall work completed today. When I called the dealer last year on two occasions, I was promised a call back from the service rep. When I called the 3rd time, I was told the same and then stated I'd hold for the service manager. I explained the prior situation and he stated he would order the parts and call when they came in.

Crickets.... This November of 2022.

I was busy and could find the time until this week. When I called this time, I spoke to a service rep, received and appointment and the two recall items of work was completed in less than two hours. Transmission does seem to shift smoother now.

Glad that's off my list....

RECALL PC984, Transfer Case Switch.
Relating to specific 2023 Frontiers, no further ID in regard to what specifics are.
Does say dealers will replace the transfer case range sensor.

Does anyone know where the transfer case range sensor is located? I assume on the transfer case, but according to the person at the dealer I was unfortunate to purchase the vehicle from, he says it take over four hours and the transmission has to be removed.
At first he implied it was a parking pawl campaign, then I told him NO, I have stated I had a 2023.

Anyone have any idea about this recall?

UPDATE:
Talked with the actual service manager after looking up and like most other TCs in the world it is at the rear shaft and about a half hour to replace. It is a new recall issued Sept 13th.
And basically your idiot lights MIGHT start flashing on/off, driving you insane to the point you might unload 14 rounds of ammo into the cluster, if you switch into 4WD; therefore the sensor is defective and needs to be replaced.

Does Nissan mail a recall notification to the car owners? The recall was issued on 9/14/23 but I've never been notified until I checked MyNissan today.

I have already scheduled an oil change in early November, just called the dealer to add it to the service.
Waaaay too early for recall notices. But yes, though the current ref number likely isn't the final recall number. As example, pawl recall took months to finalize, longer for mailers.

Don't think this is a recall. Recalls are safety related and suspect start with "R"... but it's early to conclude that.

In any case:

That reminds me, I need to call the dealer and find out if they have received the part in question. Want to get it fixed before a drive to Moab at the end of the month.
A recall is a repeal issued by a vehicle manufacturer to address a safety defect or problem identified with their vehicles. And Emission problem can be related to a recall. However, most of the time (at least with GM) a non-safety or emission recall is usually noted as a campaign or some type of voluntary service extension.
But the word recall is generally used by the public like the word Xerox was used for copies....
