Who has successfully installed a Bull Bar on the 2022?

Hello all,
So who has one installed, which one do you have and what issues have you faced in terms of the sensors?
I'd like one and I'm willing to give up some sensor features but I'd like to know exactly what's lost:
Is it adaptive cruise control, auto braking, parking sensors, blind spot warning, etc..
If anything is lost, does it just not work or do you get any nagging indications or do you deactivate something?
Some pictures of your Bull bar would be great as well!
Thanks,
LRod

Bump!
I guess nobody has installed one on a '22?
Man, besides the one that Rough Country shows on their website, I can't even find a picture of any others. I guess soon I might be one of the guinea pigs for a bull bar!

For anyone interested:
I got an email from Westin. They'll be coming out with their Bull Bars for the '22 in March-April!

I'm ok with that as long as it's the only thing that it interferes with. I've lived my whole life without it, Lol!
I'm concerned about other sensors though: auto braking, blind spot warning etc.
I believe that the little square in the middle houses more than just the adaptive cruise control.
I just don't want a bunch of constant warnings telling me that these systems have failed. I'd love for those people here that have those Bull bars (on a 2022) to chime in!

Actually glad that you brought that thread up. The OP of that thread might be able to chime in on how the bull bar is working for him.

After researching this further, there is one thing I hadn't thought of. The 2022 has menus that allow you to turn off any "sensor" systems that the truck has. The only one I see that has no switch is the adaptive cruise control. So I figure that whatever sensors get interference, you'd simply permanently turn off and not use. It's not a great thing but it would be a workaround that would prevent the sensors from showing any warnings. And I'm guessing that the adaptive cruise control would only show a warning while you're using the cruise control. I'm gonna wait till someone else posts their experience with any bull bar before I jump in and buy one. I've also been looking through a couple of '22 Frontier Facebook groups to see if anyone there has had any experience with this.

So I've decided and have ordered the RC Nudge Bar. I would rather have this setup in order to accommodate 4 lights instead of ditch & front bumper lights. I have to wait for it because like everything now, it's backordered! From what I've gathered, the emergency forward stop & adaptive cruise control is what might be affected. I don't mind since I've never relied on that anyways in any other car that I've owned. Rear parking sensor, lane departure warning & blind spot monitor remain unaffected. Now I just have to decide on which lights to install!

Is it possible to relocate the front sensor to whatever is blocking it? I'm ignorant on the new 3rd gens so try to keep flames to a minimum, but was wondering if there was enough slack in wire harness to put sensor farther fwd on said bull bar? Just thinking out loud.

I don't think so. It's behind a plastic plate in the middle of the bumper. And the lower part is apparently what's not supposed to get blocked. The nudge bar and any installed lights pretty much block that plate. I suppose if someone has fabrication experience, they'd probably be able to figure it out. I'll just go with it as is since it would probably be a job beyond my mechanical skills. Good idea though!
The reason I'm doing it now and not waiting is because I believe that every other new Bull bar design will have the same drawback. The fact that the sensors are in the middle pretty much dictate that they all will be that way. That's the spot where lights would always be + the lower horizontal bar on the bull bar. Nissan should have thought this through a little more!

I didn’t install a nudge bar. At first I moved my front license plate up and it covered the sensor area. I can confirm the only warning was the adaptive cruise control/front collision warning that was affected. All other sensors worked. It gave me an warning each time the truck was started. Once I figured out that’s where the sensor was I moved it and it functioned fine again. If you wanted to verify for yourself you could just tape some cardboard over the area and go for a short drive.

That's good to know. The adaptive cruise control and front collision are the ones that don't bother me if they don't work. But all the other ones, I want. So that's good news!
Thanks.

If your just wanting to mount extra lights install the hood mounts and installed in the grill next to the sensor as you already suggested. Losing the adaptive cruise and auto braking might not be a big deal for you but it will be for your insurance company. If you knowingly disabled a safety feature that could have prevented an accident or minimize the damages your going to be in a world of hurt with your insurance company.

Look at the current Bull Bar:
Image

If they made it wider it wouldn't make a difference. If they raised the upper horizontal bar, it would go across the grill. If they lowered the lower horizontal bar, it would block the skid plate. No matter what you do, the sensor is still in the middle so no redesign would fix the issue! And to top it off, even if you make all those changes, as soon as you load 4 lights, it's blocked!

Installed today! Here it is along with the Diode Dynamics SS3's!
Trigger 4 Plus wireless lighting controller was also installed!
I really like it. Excellent quality and surprisingly it's Made in the USA!
Strange thing:
Adaptive cruise control & forward braking were deactivated (as expected).
But strangely enough, it fixed itself after about 15 minutes and then it all started to work normally.
Drove on the highway for about an hour after that with zero issues!
I'm wondering if it initially sees some blockage of the sensors and then eventually recalibrates?
Point is that it all works fine!

Please keep us updated! If the truck is able to learn to look around the obstructions, that is excellent!

I also suspect it will lead to many more bull bar purchases!

Are you sure?
I've been driving it everyday for a week and I've had the light come on twice. Within a few minutes it disappears and my sensors then work 100% for the rest of the drive.
And as you can see in the picture above, not only do I have the nudge bar but I have it loaded with four 3.2" lights.
Only conclusion I have is that it recalibrates somehow. If it didn't then the truck would deactivate the sensors 100% of the time.

I can see where Rough Country killed their bully bar. It was definitely confusing. I received a call on 2/7 about the order I placed for the bully bar and light kit back in December, the message stated it was still on back order and that the new ship date was 2/14 and to call if I had any questions. On Thursday, I received an email that my request to cancel the order was submitted. Shortly afterwards I did get a message from Paypal that a refund had been processed. I called Rough Country and their customer service told me first, that I failed to call them back and tell them not to cancel my order (and I told them the message I received made no mention of cancelling orders, it just stated the new ship date was 2/14). I was then told by customer support that the item was so back ordered and they had no idea when it would be available, that they cancelled all outstanding orders. I assume the real reason is due to the sensor issues and how the bar interferes with the normal function of them. I fully get it, but I have to say the way it was communicated and explained was terrible. No one seemed to really know what was going on. Being told days earlier it would ship on 2/14 and then calling two days later to be told the back orders were so great. They held onto almost $700.00 for two months and offered nothing in terms of future ordering, next steps on their development plans, etc. Oh well, guess I need to wait for when the Nismo bumper comes out.

Hi Justin

I can see your frustration, I unfortunately cannot get a refund from them. Their customer service is something only to be imagined? A small blurb was added to the ad that you have to search for in the installation instructions that the bar may interfere with some systems.
Yes it sure did. The truck shop that installed it will not do anything either except to try to sell the Bar and the 20 inch light for me. They should have known about the issues with the sensors as well. I would be willing to sell it for $300 for both, but, I have not had any interest by anyone to buy it.

Thanks for sharing

Sorry to hear that! I guess if you got it already, they are not offering a refund. I did get my money back, but no real explanation. The item cannot even be located on their page anymore, so they know there is a problem. They should definitely take care of you. If they up and cancelled it all together, and we know why....they should make good if you want to return it. Good luck!

I have no doubt it will come back at some point. It was the removal of the item from the website along with cancelling many orders for the bully bar. I am sure there will be some kind of re-design or they are truly unable to get it produced. Either way, mine was cancelled after a couple months and from what I understand, many others were as well. Their inability to properly articulate the issue to the customers is kind of what irks me. Just be up front and honest. Done call me one day and give me an updated ship date then 2 days later create a refund request as if I initiated it and when I call, I am told two different reasons by customer support. Things happen and I have waited longer for other stuff I have purchased as of late. No issues as long as you are open and honest with the customer.

Totally agree!
Weird thing is that I ordered mine from them about 2 months ago and it showed as backordered for like a week. Then another week passed and arrived at my door at that time. Also, when I initially ordered, I called them to ask about the backorder and they promptly answered the phone and gave me a clear answer about the delay and the exact availability date. I also separately ordered an exhaust tip and it arrived promptly without any issue. This was my first time ever buying anything from Rough Country. I guess everyone's experience varies though!

I had multiple 2nd gens with the white rhino fab bull bar on it (look it up). Are there no fabbed bull/nudge/light bars? All I want to do is run high powered driving lights, and I don't mind if it's in the grille area. Any thoughts? Or anyone seen anything?

You can go in and shut off the parking sensors, however you can relocate it, on my 2025 it is right under the nissan logo on the grill.... but i for now have just shut off as your cruise control will not work when this sensor is blocked.... now all works good just without that beep which if you can't park a nissan frontier and i realize it does more than that. but i don't like anyway..
