Bed rail caps - keep or remove for canopy install?

I went by my canopy dealer today to ask him when my Leer canopy is going to show up. It's been 11 weeks. No idea. I then asked if they installed the canopy over the bed rails or removed them. He said they leave them on. I asked if they did anything about the interface across the front. With the rail caps on there will be a 1/4" gap. He said not to worry. I worry when any dealer says that. He said I could take them off if I wanted but they won't.

So assembled Frontierians, should I leave them on or take them off?

My bed rail caps are still on with the canopy. The cab side width of the bed, they just stacked 2 of the rubber weather sealants on top of each other and that fills the gap fine. I get dust in the bed from other places, but never any dust/debris/water through that side.

I could be wrong but I’ve heard the bed rail caps don’t come off very pretty. If you can I’d try to keep them on👍🏼

I left mine on, actually, I added some before putting my topper on. If you don’t then the bare tops of the bed will actually be lower than the tailgate cap and - in my case anyway - the drop in bed liner plastic that wraps up and over the front of the bed.

I'd leave them alone. They protect your bed tops and are glued in place, and as noted, a few sections of foam under the topper and Bob's your Uncle. I don't have one now and may never have, but if I do, this is exactly what I'll do.
