Major Engine Vibration when cold

Hello,

Ive lurked around and seen a couple post regarding some engine idling vibration or just engine vibration in general but I wanted to see if anyone could do me a favor.

I have noticed on my 2023 Pro X when the truck is cold (sits overnight) that when I first start it up, and take the gas pedal and VERY lightly/slowly press in to get the rpms to go up, there is some MAJOR vibration. Im not talking about small vibration im talking the whole front of the truck is shaking kind of vibration. I alslo notice that the rpms flucates, when your pressing the gas pedal in slowly and almost like the engine is missing.. This happens between 750- to maybe 1100ish rpms that I can replicate this in. I would be concerned enough to take to dealer but goes away when warm and no check engine lights. So I feel like Id be wasting my time @ dealer

Can anyone that has the noticeable vibration in your truck go and start yours after its sat overnight and try what I just did. I am going to try and record it and post a video. Funny thing is when the truck gets to operating temps after its driven. It Goes away.. You have to barely touch the gas pedal to get the rpms to go up really slow, almost like feathering the gas pedal and youll see what im talking about. This is also when the truck is in Park.

Not revving per say. I wouldnt ever do that to a cold engine, I just noticed when the engine is idling like others there is some vibration. If you pop the hood open you can look to the right of the engine and theres a couple hoses that are shaking pretty bad from the vibration. I am going to try and make a video either later this week or this weekend so you guys can see. I just noticed when I barely touched the gas pedal and made the rpms barely go up it shakes really bad between that range I listed and its a pretty aggressive shake. But if I give it a normal slow amount of acceleration it doesn't do it, it goes right past the point that it shakes bad on the rpm guage and doesnt do it anymore.

To the OP,
If you start your engine after a cold night, and just let it sit... where do the RPM's relax to?
I'm guessing the computer will detect cold temps and run the engine at idle around 1100 rpm.
After 5 minutes or so, it should relax back down to normal idle around 700 rpms or so.
Does it vibrate during this warmup stage? (not touching the gad pedal of course)

After it starts it does just as you said, around 1000-1100rpms to warm up the cat and after a few minutes down to 750-850rpms I believe.

I typically just use Shell 87, which is a top tier fuel. I use fuel rewards then gas buddy on top of it to pay for gas for the discounts. Lately Ive been putting in Shell 87 Ethanol Free vs the shell 87 with 10% ethanol. Seems to make my engine run better and with the discounts I get it makes it .10c more a gallon. I just hit 3200 miles and just changed the oil last night to get the factory oil out. I am going to run this oil for another 2k then dump it and then change it again at 5k and from there on out do 5k oil changes. I am using Pennzoil Ultra platinum 0w20. And a fram TG 7317 oil filter.

My 2022 seems to idle smooth on cold starts and we've had some single digit cold starts this winter. I'll feather the go pedal to see If I can replicate this..

I do know that on occasion while sitting at a stop light, etc, with the engine fully up to temp the engine feels like it's welded solid to the frame with the vibrations it gives off. It only does this sometimes though. Runs like a top and gets good fuel economy otherwise..

@dalekinder I've tried it twice now on cold starts on my 2022. Both times, the ambient temp was around 40F. Mine idles high on cold start for a minute or 3 at around 1200rpm. Right away tried feathering the go pedal, but no matter how light I tickle it, my RPMs go to like 1500+. No vibs at all.

Like I say, the only what I would consider harsher than normal vibrations I get on my 2022 is at hot idle, waiting at a stop light, etc. and even that is not every time.

I have a 2021 Nissan Versa and when the temps get below 40°F to 35°F, the car starts up like it should but 2 seconds later it bogs down bad and shakes really bad and almost dies out. I have to gently keep my foot on the gas just to keep it from dying because it did on me the first time. I am unsure of what this could be. My guess is its the fuel temp sensor or something because after about 5 minutes of stopping it from dying, it runs fine.
