Hi, newbie here. I'm currently shopping around for a 2020 Pro4x Crew cab, but found a brand new 2019 King cab that I should be able to get for a steal.

I like the longer bed that comes with the King cab, but I'm concerned that the rear jump seats may be too small for my occasional needs.

I don't normally use the back seats in my current car (Subaru Outback) as it is not our primary family vehicle, but it is nice to have the option of a back seat for when I have one or two of my kids in tow.

I never have adults riding with me, but I do have a teenage girls and a couple 5 yr. olds.

For those of you with the King cab, have you found it adequate/comfortable to have smaller children and/or teenagers ride in the jump seats?

Thanks!

Oh, and I’ll add that the fears seats still offer better room than say the back seat of a Mustsng or Canaro, thinking headroom here. Think 2 plus 2 just like many sport coupes, 2 comfy seats up front and a torture chamber in the rear. That said, my daughters friends were very happy to ride there during a heavy rain 😀

I just unloaded my tools from my 1st Gen King Cab and climbed in to sit on the jumper just to see what it's like. It's definitely not passenger friendly.
I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be for me to drive if there was a jumper on the driver side with someone sitting in it. I'd have to drive with the steering wheel in my chest to allow for a lil space for someone to sit behind me.

The King Cab is definitely nothing more than extra storage space.

I have a King Cab and occasionally my teenagers have to ride in those tiny jump sears. We all joke about it but it works fine fir short drives. I do put my seat forward a bit and same goes with my wife in the front passenger seat to allow a bit extra legroom in back. Fir family trips we ordinarily take her Mazda5.

It's cool that you can squeeze your kids into the king cab seats, but
the fact that you have to do so makes the point that the king cab seats
are not valid seating. I bought my king cab after my kids were grown and
the grand kids were still small... no one could fit in those seats. I'm
pretty sure that the sales guy that rode back there for our test drive
spent the rest of the day at the chiropractor. He couldn't even open the
door, he had to ask me to let him out.

Its awesome. I have to ride recumbent because i have broken and badly healed bones in my wrists. It hurts to ride regular bikes for more then 10 miles.

I ride a lightning p38. Its a lazy boy on wheels, ha ha ha. I have done multiple 100 mile rides on it though

Mine is the one with spoke wheels. My buddy gilbert has the mag wheels on his. Mine is a 2000 or 2002 model, by the serial number. Its all ultegra/105 components though so its nice. Its also fast. I have been to 40mph on the flats once or twice and do 30mph on all the group rides in some of our speed segments on strava

I had a king cab for 10 years and just made do. Never could take the gang at work to lunch. Always had to have someone else drive. Just had limited use. Just bought 2019 king cab and absolutely love it. Wife said I only got it pile more hunting “crap” in the back🦃🦃🦃🦌🦌🦌👍👍. We just traveled and she could hang her clothes, fit her luggage, Cooler, groceries etc. etc in the back seat. She suddenly had a change of heart.
I do miss the loss of bed length but to me a small price. Use my trailer if needed.

C K is a better choice,, even though you don't need right now, might be come on Handy when you do..The KK it is way small, you won't be able to do anything if you change your mind later on. You'll be stuck with it. The CK it be there need it o not.
I went through the same issues and i'm Glad I picked the C K. Not regrets was so ever.
Good luck on you new purchase!!

I have the Pro4X Crew! It’s the way to go! Get the dealer to throw in a bed extender to seal the deal!

I just traded in "Red-2", my 2010 King Cab LE (Last year for that trim package in a King Cab) at 347,000 miles. It was a long run and I'll miss him. Back to the subject at hand, I rarely had back seat passengers (three times in 10 years of ownership) and the rear seats aren't really suitable for anyone but small children (under age five, maybe). The up side is the six foot bed.

I just bought a 2016 Crew Cab SV with all the extras and while the bed is shorter, it drives about the same as the 2010 (same wheelbase) but has usable rear seating that even I can sit in. It has a bed extender, but I'm shell shopping right now because I'm pretty sure I'll need the extra space back there (the extended looks like it will clear the rear door on a shell). The Crew Cab long bed is an option, but the longer physical length and wheelbase can interfere with turning and parking under some circumstances. Crew cabs seem to be much more popular and the King Cab Pro4x appears to have been discontinued. If you even THINK you'll need a back seat (especially if you have kids), get a Crew, then save up for your two-seat sports car that your wife will hate. :D

The best feature of the Frontier CC is the fold up back seats basically turn the interior into a SUV. I carry more stuff there than the bed. I’d never buy a king cab.

It’s a great place to lock a bicycle, remove the front wheel and easily fit 2 back there.

They couldn’t explain to me when I wanted a new truck why they could still make a short bed 6 speed but not a long bed 6 speed same everything.

I'm surprised more manufacturers don't allow custom orders for anything that's not physically-impossible. Must be too cost-prohibitive to schedule one-off jobs. One of my coworkers ordered an F-150 King Ranch with a bench seat. It looks a little odd to have a non-color-matched jump seat in the middle, but hey, that's what he wanted. He also got the black rubber floor. The dark brown King Ranch carpet only comes cut for the center console. Figured the black rubber floor would look better than black carpet and dark brown seats.

My 2015 need: 6' bed
My 2015 want: 6-sp manual
Thank the good lord I didn't wait until 2016 to order my KC SV 6-sp since it was the last yr of a KC 6-sp in the US.
Nissan quit offering the 6-sp in the CCLB in '08 or '09. Since I rarely, almost never have more than one passenger, the KC was the ticket.
Otherwise, I'd have gotten a CCLB w/ auto trans...and yes, it would fit in my garage, but not by much.

my father used to drive a 2006 frontier king cab which is the same as the 2019 models. we used to find the back seats very uncomfortable tho as they are so low and try squish your legs between you and the front seats. although like you said, i also prefer the look and utility of a longer 6 foot bed of the king cabs. i drive a 2001 king cab because i’d prefer the utility of a longer bed than a bigger cabin.

the cabin of the king cab tho has good utility for storing luggage and groceries if needed. but when you also need to haul something big, the longer bed of the king cab will come in handy compared to a small short bed. but to be honest the king cab is a 2 seater only truck but the rear jump seats work for quick drives ( no longer than 30 min) but i have personally lasted longer than 2 hours and back home another 2 hours in my father king cab frontier back seats and im 5’6. i would never do it ever again tho. too uncomfortable.

The CC is 5 passengers, the KC is 4. Personally my needs are a weekend work truck, daily commuter, with space for the three remaining kids at home some times.
My 9 and 12 yr olds both love riding in the jump seats around town, but this obviously isn't meant for long trips.
It really comes down to what you need, I don't need another car.
If you are in the car seat or booster seat phase, get a crew cab, the KC is for a second or third vehicle, rarely used by more than 2 people

Since the 2020 models have some major new features (and are touted by dealers as being "all-new"), there aren't going to be any great deals on them for a while.

Since you're willing to live with a 2019 model instead, you might consider looking for slightly used late-model crew cabs. There's a lot of them around, and their asking prices will be declining due to the introduction of the 2020's.

Go to a Nissan dealership, try sitting in the KC jump seats yourself.
Then proceed and buy a Crew Cab.

From what you originally said, you're shopping around for a 2020 Pro-4x Crew Cab.

... but then you're only considering an older 2019 model KC P4x because you can "get one for a steal" - not because it's necessarily the same vehicle you were shopping for.
So ask yourself if you really want a "2020 Pro4x Crew Cab" specifically, or if you're just second guessing yourself because you see a lower number on a price tag.

I agree with @raine 110%. If the KC and CC were the same price, which one would you go for? If you're only shopping for price and willing to compromise, it shouldn't be a question, get what you can afford and live with the compromises. If you want a CC, get the CC. Otherwise if you get the KC, you might be shopping for a CC in a few months.

If you're like me, you won't be considering the "deal" you got when you inconvenience yourself by having the KC. Instead you'll probably be thinking about how you coulda/shoulda/woulda gotten the CC.

As for the CCLB folks, I'd struggle to consider purchasing one. Maybe if it was really cheap. But a basic full-size late-model pickup is maybe a foot longer, has a way more roomier cab, seats, and deeper bed, and turns tighter.
