I recommend running the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires in 265 75 16 if you have the 16" wheels. I use them as a standard street tire. Much smoother riding than the BFG KO2's. In my opinion, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are a little quieter, have better all around wet road traction, and way better standing water hydroplane resistance compared to the KO2's.
In my opinion: the KO2's rode really rough at the same pressure, meaning harshly over bumps, plus they tracked poorly in ruts, meaning they would sort of throw the truck around side to side, sketchy in snow and ice ruts, plus I don't like their wet weather handling. Traction plus hydroplaning is much worse in the rain compared to the AT3W's.
I do think the BFG KO2's look the best of any A/T's out there though. I would only run the 10 ply rated ones on a full sized truck though.
On my 08 Frontier I ran the BFG AT KO2's in 285 75 16 and swapped them out for the cooper discoverer A/T3's in 265 75 16. And when those wore out I switched to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 265 75 16. Only run them now. All bought and serviced from discount tire.
Cooper discoverer A/T3's were quiet at first, but seemed to wear out and cup pretty fast, then they got really loud and annoying. In my opinion they were decent all around but not that great at anything. Didn't think they rode as smooth over bumps compared to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. Didn't think they looked good either. Seemed like they really turned that ugly brownish red also. Didn't care for them. I would run a Michelin Defender All season M+S tire over a cooper A/T3 any day if I was looking for a street tire.
This info was from the manufacturers websites back when I researched them. Not sure if it changed since then.
Cooper AT3 265/75-16 C 16.5/32 31.61" 46lbs
Falken AT3/W 265/75-16 P 14/32 31.7" 43.9lbs
BFG AT KO2 265/75-16 E 15/32 31.6" 53.5lbs
The BFG KO2's I had were an actual 3 ply sidewall construction, not talking about ply "rating".
The Falken AT3/W were an actual 2 ply sidewall construction, again not talking about ply "rating"
The Cooper Discoverer AT3 was an actual 2 ply sidewall construction. Not ply rating.
I think that is why the Falken AT3W's don't ride as firm as the KO2's. Plus they were a bit lighter in P load rating while still having the appropriate speed rating and load index rating.
You want a mild AT; KO2s and my Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws are not mild.
Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are certainly milder, and not as stiff riding as the BFG A/T KO2's. Plus I thought they rode better than the Cooper Discoverer AT3's also.
How's the rain traction on the KO2s?
Didn't like it. In my opinion was always a problem and was even worse with the original KO's which I used to run.
