Hi All,
I need a new set of tires. The truck is stock and I'm planning on keeping my stock wheels. I do mostly highway driving, and I'm wondering if you all have some opinions on the best all terrain tire. I'm looking for something that will still have a somewhat aggressive appearance, but still be quieter, and ideally last 50-60K miles.
Thanks!

Uh oh, what makes you say that?
I've got a set with 10k on them now lol
They are good tires, i'm on my second set of duratracs, but they get noisy as they wear. I would not get them if being quite was one of your main criteria. Could be my lousy front end alignment making it worse for me, but most people I've talked to agreed they get loud over time--like a mud tire.

You want a mild AT; KO2s and my Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws are not mild. The Coopers mentioned fit the bill. You could also look at the Yokohama Geolandar G015 and the Vredestein Pinza AT. There's a brand new Cooper tire, the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT, that might fit the bill but I haven't seen any test results for it yet. And the old OEM tire the Hankook Dynapro AT2 has a new version out called the AT2 Xtreme. Also haven't seen test results on it.

I was also going to suggest waiting for reviews on the Road+Trail AT. Appears to be a competitor to the Falken AT Trail, just the Road+Trail also comes in truck sizes and not just Subaru and RAV4 sizes. I like how they appear to have aggressive sidewall tread on all sizes compared to say, the Cooper Discoverer AT3 which has aggressive sidewall tread on the heavier-duty versions only (LT and XLT). I rub my tires on rocks and logs and stuff that would've ripped highway tires open.

Regardless I'd definitely go for something on the highway-terrain side of the AT tire spectrum, such as the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. The OEM Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10s aren't bad either, as are the Discount Tire version called the Pathfinder All Terrain.

I have Good Year Wrangler Ultra Terrain A/Ts and would not recommend them for someone looking for low noise. They hum like I have 4 bad wheel bearings. They've proven their worth off road and especially in wet mud. They lean more toward the mud-terrain side of the AT spectrum.

I've been very happy with my Toyo Open Country A/T³ tires. Good wear, traction etc. Ride is great.

General Grabbers. Aggressive offroading and have yet to have an issue, no cuts or punctures ( except for a screw once, on-road ) and been through rain and snow in Maine, varied trails in Maine, WV and VA, 24"+ deep mudholes in NJ, and a nearly all rock & scree trail at Tasker's Gap VA. Used 4wd in many of these scenarios, never even nearly been stuck, they get loud when they wear but very good tires.

All I will say is Cooper or Toyo is all I use. But so far, the AT2s on my 2023 are ok in rain and good on highway traveling at 85 mph; snow and possibly Moab Slick rock will be determined most likely the first week of November. However, if I still have the truck when they need replacement, most likely Toyo AT/III Cooper Discoverdr AT3 4s.

how many are aware that cooper tire is owned by goodyear since June of 2021,
my personal worries' are will goodyear keep up the quality many are used to?

So far from people I know who have purchased Cooper tires in the past year, it appears Goodyear had kept up the quality. I used the STTs for off-roading on a Hummer and a Heep, friends have used the Discoverer series.
And yes, knew Goodyear purchased Cooper. But I'm sure a lot of people don't know. Knew a guy in Moab who argued with me when I told him his BF Goodrich KMs were from a French tire manufacture; MIchelin. Many don't know that Nitto is owned by Toyo...Firestone is owned by Bridgestone....and who knows who will own what tomorrow. :devilish:

I recommend running the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires in 265 75 16 if you have the 16" wheels. I use them as a standard street tire. Much smoother riding than the BFG KO2's. In my opinion, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are a little quieter, have better all around wet road traction, and way better standing water hydroplane resistance compared to the KO2's.

In my opinion: the KO2's rode really rough at the same pressure, meaning harshly over bumps, plus they tracked poorly in ruts, meaning they would sort of throw the truck around side to side, sketchy in snow and ice ruts, plus I don't like their wet weather handling. Traction plus hydroplaning is much worse in the rain compared to the AT3W's.
I do think the BFG KO2's look the best of any A/T's out there though. I would only run the 10 ply rated ones on a full sized truck though.

On my 08 Frontier I ran the BFG AT KO2's in 285 75 16 and swapped them out for the cooper discoverer A/T3's in 265 75 16. And when those wore out I switched to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 265 75 16. Only run them now. All bought and serviced from discount tire.

Cooper discoverer A/T3's were quiet at first, but seemed to wear out and cup pretty fast, then they got really loud and annoying. In my opinion they were decent all around but not that great at anything. Didn't think they rode as smooth over bumps compared to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. Didn't think they looked good either. Seemed like they really turned that ugly brownish red also. Didn't care for them. I would run a Michelin Defender All season M+S tire over a cooper A/T3 any day if I was looking for a street tire.

This info was from the manufacturers websites back when I researched them. Not sure if it changed since then.

Cooper AT3 265/75-16 C 16.5/32 31.61" 46lbs
Falken AT3/W 265/75-16 P 14/32 31.7" 43.9lbs
BFG AT KO2 265/75-16 E 15/32 31.6" 53.5lbs

The BFG KO2's I had were an actual 3 ply sidewall construction, not talking about ply "rating".
The Falken AT3/W were an actual 2 ply sidewall construction, again not talking about ply "rating"
The Cooper Discoverer AT3 was an actual 2 ply sidewall construction. Not ply rating.

I think that is why the Falken AT3W's don't ride as firm as the KO2's. Plus they were a bit lighter in P load rating while still having the appropriate speed rating and load index rating.

You want a mild AT; KO2s and my Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws are not mild.
Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are certainly milder, and not as stiff riding as the BFG A/T KO2's. Plus I thought they rode better than the Cooper Discoverer AT3's also.

How's the rain traction on the KO2s?
Didn't like it. In my opinion was always a problem and was even worse with the original KO's which I used to run.
