Hi Club Frontier I have a 2005 nissan frontier 4.0L v6
I had it parked in my driveway for about 2 years n Los angles and need to use it again for work.
Before I parked the truck i used it everyday for 3+yrs and had no problems with it. I had under a 1/4 tank of gas before i parked it in my driveway. after about 1 year i drove it 1 mile and parked it again and then sat till now. Total of about 2.5yrs sitting.

I put a new battery in it and it started up first try. I drove to the gas station and topped it off with 91 gas and went to work about 30 miles away. Ran good the whole time on my way to work and then went to lunch and noticed it would misfire every now and then on take off after I would stop.
Drove home and truck barley made it home. Everytime i got off the gas it would get worse and worse till it just died.

it gave me codes P0300, cam sensor , crankshaft sensor, and P1065.
i changed both sensors, put new spark plugs and replaced drive side valve cover gasket.

i started it up and ran good for about 30 seconds and then started shaking and misfiring again but not as bad as before.
I pulled the plugs on the left side/driver side, and the one closest to the firewall was soaked with oil or something. the right side was like a dry brown look.
Also when i start it blue smoke starts to come out the tail pipe after a few mins.
Oil cap shows no sign of radiator fluid.

I don't know what to do, any advise is greatly appreciated
Current codes P0300 and P1065

Welcome to Club Frontier. You might want to download a copy of the Nissan Factory Service Manual for your model year Frontier. You can download a copy from any one of the attached three weblinks:

When you swapped out the two cam position sensors & the one crankshaft sensor, did you use Nissan OEM sensors or did you use aftermarket? Our Frontier trucks tend to be a bit finicky about using aftermarket sensors when it comes to the cam position & crankshaft sensors. Aftermarket ones tend to cause issues - the quality control in the manufacturing process is not as good as the Nissan OEM ones. Stay with Nissan OEM sensors if you can.

Since your truck sat for so long, you might want to grab a flashlight & inspect the inside of the engine bay / wiring harnesses just to make sure no critters got in there & made a home of your engine bay while the truck sat idle for those two & 1/2 years. Look for chewed wiring and / or rodent droppings. If you see rodent droppings, then you might have had a critter chewing on your wiring. Also check inside the air intake / air filter box. Rodents have a tendency to make homes inside there.

Also check the "accordian" type tubing on your intake just to make sure there are no cracks on the plastic portion of the intake tubing. If your battery cables & ground wires are connected properly, (no loose terminals, all grounds nice & clean), then check the six fusible links in the black box directly behind the positive battery post. Also check the rest of the fuses in the engine bay & in the passenger compartment.

Since the truck hasn't run in a while, you might want to reset the Throttle Position Sensor & the Idle Air Sensor / Throttle Body reset. Check YouTube - Rye the Car Guy & others like him have videos showing the procedures on how to reset these two sensors.

Try these simple suggestions first - if they don't work, you're gonna have to bust out the FSM & follow the diagnostic procedure to troubleshoot what the issue is & what component(s) failed over the years the truck sat & are now causing these issues.

Hope this helps... Good Luck!!

thank you for the reply I really appreciate it. I had a couple rips in both boots for the intake. I got new ones and installed. The sensors i got are Duralast brand from AutoHo. I will try OEM ones in this next go around. Wire harness is good and surprisingly no rat poop or leafs, grass, etc brought in by anything. Had lots of sider webs everywhere though.
I will look up the re-set throttle and idle position you mentioned on youtube and see if that works.
I will post my results when im done

From what you have told us so far it already sounds like the Valve Covers Tube Seals are leaking. If you have the Metal Valve Covers then I believe you can replace all the seals. If it is plastic valve covers then you have to replace the covers. You will need the gaskets for the VVT Solenoids as well.

I would replace all that and also check for vacuum leaks and what not. Probably a lot to clean and fix after letting it sit for that long.

ok ought some cheap fuel injectors and coils plugs for all 6. Ran a little better then started to shake hard again but was able to idle a little better.
I ended up getting it towed to the shop and they said its a blown head gasket.. $3k plus parts to fix. %#$@$%! thinking of changing it myself or just sell the thing to pick a part.
shop guy said something in the radiator got clogged and was giving me false temp readings so i couldn't/didnt know my car was overheating... he said thats why after i drove for 50 miles it started to mess up.

I'm not buying it, radiator clogged and temp didn't read right? BS. Head gaskets throw white smoke, not blue, I think this guy needs $3k for his next summer vacation trip and you are potentially going to fund it. Clean the battery terminals and engine grounds, get the OEM or quality aftermarket cam and crank sensors and then retest. RamTest's suggestions are good ones.
