Red 3-pin connector under front door panel

Hello. I was in the process of replacing my front door speakers when I noticed a red 3-pin connector under the door panel. It wasn't connected to anything and it shows 5V using a multimeter. Does anyone know what that connector is for? Is it for speakers with the upgraded sound system? It's not a bad place to put something in, maybe an LED courtesy door light if it's something that could be rewired or tapped into. I tried to search but I haven't found info yet. Thanks.

For a power door lock actuator, maybe?

I might be able to help if I had more info on the vehicle. What is the year, cab type and trim (XE, SE, etc.)?

I found it on page LT-40 in the 2003 FSM. It's harness connector # D9 and it would have been for the LH front door key cylinder switch. The black wire would go to chassis ground and the yellow and yellow/red wires go back to the Smart Entrance Control Unit. I'm thinking it would be for a security system.

I would be careful for using it for something else just simply for concern of damaging the smart entrance control unit. Basically, all it's used for is to let the control unit know when the key cylinder is turned to the lock or unlock position.

It provides a two step unlock just the same as the keyless entry system...but using the key of course. Our keyless entry system unlocks the driver door with one press of the unlock button and a second press unlocks the passenger door. The door cylinder switch performs the same function...turn the key once to unlock driver door and a second turn will unlock the passenger door and the tailgate lock too if you have a actuator installed in the tailgate.
I pulled mine from a junkyard Xterra. The only time I ever used it was when testing after I installed it.
My 2004 doesn't have a key cylinder on the passenger door.
I was gonna take a picture of it just now but when I started to remove the door panel I was reminded that the Dynamat is covering it up.

Neither does my 2004, think that was eliminated with power lock vehicles. I hate not having that, I don't do fobs...
