It should bolt up the same, but keep in mind the 2WD Frontier has a different fender than the 4WD Frontier. The Xterra is closest to the 4WD Frontier. But, keep in mind the Frontier fender has holes in it for the "over fender," as they call it...or, what most would call a "fender extension." The hoods are the same. The turn signals are the same, but, I believe the plastic, inner fender lining is different between the two. Also, I'm not sure how well that "rounded" Frontier wheel well in the front is going to look with that "square-ish" or "angled" wheel well shape in the rear, Xterra quarter-panel?

Could I swap 1st gen frontier headlight housing and install on an xterra 1st gen?
You didn't mention what years. I can tell you that the 98-00 Frontier and the 00-01 Xterra used the same headlamp assembly.

The interchangeable parts between the 1st gen Frontier and 1st gen Xterra are infinite. For the body and interior, imagine a line drawn along the back of the front seats and and everything forward is the same or interchageable. Engine and drivetrain is all the same and front suspension is the same. We also have like drivetrain and suspension parts with all the hardbody years(pickups and pathfinders) and the tailgate is interchangeable with the hardbody tailgate too. 3rd generation Pathfinder with the 3.3L also has like engine components and few like drivetrain parts.

Please note when I say parts are interchangeable there are a few exceptions, the biggest being that most drivetrain parts are not the same between the 4cyls and 6cyls. The difference in engine components goes without saying.

I don't know if you have seen my project but I think you would enjoy this, the Nissan Fronterra... I did an Xterra front end swap and then went with fiberglass all around.

I was wondering if a 2002 xterra passanger side front door will fit my 1999 extended cab frontier. I have checked a few parts exchange and they don't have anything fitting my frontier past a 2000.

They look pretty similar but Nissan's part catalog lists two different part #'s. Have you tried this place?:

I need to find a engine for 99 frontier 4-cylender can you tell me what years will fit ?
Pretty sure 98-04 Frontier and 00-04 Xterra with the KA24DE 4 Cylinder will work. The 98-00 Altima used the KA24DE as well

98-04 Frontier and 00-04 Xterra all use the same long block and will work (you may have to swap manifolds, depending on your and year and/or emissions certification), but the Altima KA24DE won't work. Generally speaking, Nissan engines from front wheel drive vehicles will usually not work in rear wheel drive vehicles and vice versa, even if they are in the same engine family.

Great thread. I have a 2005 KC see with manual door/window. Would like to upgrade to Power D/L. Would a 2005+ pathfinder interior door panel and wiring harness/model fit on the frontier?
TIA

2005 Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra all used the same driver's door, so the door panels, etc., should be interchangeable. It may not be a "plug-n-play" install, however, as there may not be a connector to plug into on your vehicle's current harness and the BCM software may not be compatible, also. You'll have to do a little more research on that part.

Thanks SMJ, that's good news. I was afraid since I saw different part numbers for the panel. Would purchase at a pick n pull type of place, So i plan on grabbing the harness as well. I am not familiar with BCM software - could you please explain. Tried to google but it came up with some business solution.

BCM=Body control module. The old days of just wires, relays and fuses are gone. Today's vehicles have items like power widows, wipers, headlights, tire pressure systems and so on are controlled by a Body Control Module which communicates with the IPDM (Intelligent Powertrain Distribution Module) in the engine compartment, which houses an assortment of fuses and relays.

I have a 2000 Frontier ext cab 4x4 with a bad auto transmission. Would an auto transmission from a 2004 xterra 4x4 fit?
As long as they are both V6 (not supercharged), they should be a direct swap. Valve bodies are even the same part number.

I checked with the dealership and a salvage yard that checked their interchange manual, only 2000-2002 Frontier & Xterra only
It makes you wonder what the difference is? They use the same model transmission, so they might have a gear ratio difference inside the trans. The interchange manuals refer to "exact" replacements; sometimes parts will work even though they aren't "exactly" the same.
