Hello!

Sorry if I have put this in the wrong place.

I'm looking for a little bit of help as this is my first frontier.

I recently purchased an 09 frontier with the 4.0l. It has a periodic cyl 6 misfire code that comes up. Misfire counter ticks up other than some vibration at idle.it doesn't seem too bad. Although the fuel economy is pretty bad. I replaced the coil pack and plug and low and behold the code came back.

Unplugging the coil or the fuel injector produce a hard miss. Can definitely tell the difference when either is not working.

I am wondering is anyone has had a similar problem and maybe could shed some light on this. Cam sensor? Crank sensor?

Doesn't stick me as a module issue, but I'm pretty new to this motor.

How many miles?
Try some fuel injector cleaner. My first choice is Berryman's B12 Chemtool.
Or "STP Super Concentrated Fuel Injector Cleaner" if Berrymans is unavailable.
Both at Walmart. Those are the only two I'd recommend.

You might have a vacuum leak, compression problems, etc but start with the assumption of a dirty injector.

So I ran stp in this tank. No more misfire code.

But have P0021 and P0153 pending.
Camshaft position timing over advanced or system performance bank 2.

O2 sensor circuit slow response bank 2 sensor 1.

Open to ideas and suggestions.

Before you do anything else, let that fuel cleaner do its thing, run the tank low, then refill with the best premium fuel you can get, like Mobil Premium from a busy station.
Be sure your battery posts and terminals are as clean as new, and no corrosion growing in the cables. Replace as needed.
Drive for a few days, clear the codes, and see which come back.
Also be sure there are no air leaks, NONE, in the big intake tube from the air filter to the throttle body.

I towed a trailer into the mountains the weekend.

12 ft steel single axle tilt deck 2x6 board top. Can am 800 xmr on the trailer. Can am ds90 in the bed. Plus kids and camp gear.

It burned more fuel than I expected but I thought it did alright. Tough for me to compare as I have owned diesels on the pass. I thought it did reasonably well.
