Those have a fat base. Like Sean mentioned, you might have to remove the base in order to get the locking ring to lock. On my Juke, I had to trim some of the locking ring. Then, it looks like they have an external driver, so you'll have to find a place to attach it to. Once you're done, you'll have to adjust to headlights.

The base and external driver is why I went with Auxito LED bulbs for the Frontier. They look like a regular bulb and installed like a regular bulb. It was super easy. They also have a similar beam pattern to the OEM bulbs. In 3 years, I've never been flashed by incoming traffic.
I've installed them. They fit without modification.

I never went ahead with LED headlights for all the unknown factors involved. Besides what's been mentioned, would LED headlights work as DRL (for Ontario)?
I don't live in Canada si I have no idea about Ontario regulations.

I'm not familiar with those, but on the two sets of Katana bulbs I have installed you have to remove the attachment point of the bulb to fit the bulb hold down ring as the body of the bulb is too big.
Here are some pics from my build thread.

Also, not sure of your battery / hand size, but the passenger side can be a little tricky with the battery in place. I have hands like a 14 year old boy so I'm able to do it without removing my battery. YMMV. :ROFLMAO:
Battery removal was simple. So was the installation of the bulbs.

I'll also ask a hypothetical for some of the LED users in this thread. If you DID get flashed on the highway, or if you had a friend who mentioned your headlights bothered them like my friend did, would that convince you to remove your LED retrofits and go back to halogens?
No.
That would tell me I need to check the aim of my headlamps first, not just give up and swap back to the inferior halogen bulbs.

I installed the auxito bulbs last week. I found that the headlights no longer operated according to the light stalk on the left side of the steering wheel. They were permanently on in all of the modes (I think... Can't remember exactly. But they were on in more modes than they should have been). I researched it a bit, couldn't find other people with the same issues, read that article linked in this thread about how LED bulbs will never aim properly, and sent them back and put the halogens back in.
So convenient of you to join 7 hours ago and this is your first post...

I recently purchased a frontier and have been following this forum. This is the first time I've wanted to comment, and I had to create an account to do so. Why is that hard to believe?
No introduction. Post looks kind of random really.
Sometimes scammers (and now BOTS) get in forums like that. I don't think raine meant any harm.
Welcome to CF from SoCal.

Never heard of the issue you mention.
I ran Katana LEDs on my Fronty before getting my Morimoto headlight assemblies, and had no issues. I have also swapped in LEDs to some other vehicles, and no issues either. Weird issue - do you have a link to the bulbs you purchased?

welcome to CF, you had a very unique problem, I second El_Guevara question do you have a link to the bulbs you purchased?

Thanks for the welcome. You guys get a lot of shills for Big Halogen in these forums?

I purchased these auxito bulbs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CL92HS9Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Went for those because I saw them recommended somewhere on this forum. Curiously, it's a similar issue to one that I had with my old vehicle (an 06 forester) when I replaced those halogens with LED's - the LED lights were always on while the car was moving, whether I had them toggled on or off on the stalk.

Anyways, that's part of the reason why I sent them back. The other part is that I'm an EE and do a decent bit of lighting analysis for site lighting, street lighting, interior lighting, etc. So I work with lighting most days, and the aforementioned article about replacing halogen bulbs with LED resonated with me. Particularly the bit that said (paraphrasing) "even if the cutoff is appropriate so it doesn't harm other drivers ability to see, having a brighter spot in one part of the beam will force the eyes to adjust to that level of brightness, thereby dimming your eyes ability to see other parts of the beam as well."

The reflectors were made for halogens, and since the LED's misbehaved anyways, the halogens will remain for the future.

Welcome to the forum then. No clue what you mean by "shills for Big Halogen" but okay.

You can install whatever you want in your headlamps, there's nothing wrong with that.

Do a retrofit, or get a set of Morimoto assemblies.

Never had that issue either. Like ever.

I also ran Katana LEDs on my Frontier (before getting my Akkon headlight assemblies), and had no issues. I have also swapped in LEDs to many, many other vehicles, and no issues either.

Sometimes it's not a widespread "issue" at all, sometimes it's simply just anecdotal.

Would you happen to have a link to the bulbs you bought. Looking to replace my stock Oem bulbs, when driving at night I can hardly see.
