So let me get this straight, for about $3000 I could swap a 2017 Titan V8 into my 2017 Frontier?, with basically little to no fabrication?
NOT the Direct injection version (17 and up? Titan engine) the wiring is different on that. Still doable (Driven desire will do this in house only) but the cost is increased.

Only the vk56de. The second gen Titan is no dice as it's the vk56vd. They just got a VD going but that is not one they endorse unless you take it to them. To much electrical work if I remember right.

How about using 6 Speed from PRO4X model with titan engine? Anybody tried something like that?

Driven Desire has installed a VK with the 6spd manual and they also did a vk56vd and 7spd out of a 2nd gen titan. Check their facebook for more information.

Did I read that wrong or did you post the exact same thing?

He's saying that they have done the manual with the VK56DE (older engine) and swapped in the VK56VD (newer engine) with the transmission from the same donor titan.

To answer @jdmfactory you have to get an adapter plate. I think I recall that the 350/370z plate will work but I could be wrong.

I've been following this thread for a little while. I've notice it still has some activity and a lot of people asking about price. I about to do this swap and can tell you that sourcing everything individually will run you about the same cost (depending on your luck of the draw) as a wrecked donor car and you'll have a lot less headache.
I am going to try and document the process with at least pictures and maybe video and do a write up including prices. I am using a motor and trans from an 09 titan and I was able to score a pathfinder v8 harness and ecu.

^ Good point and have done that in the past with good results. Finding a decent Titan / Armada or V8 Pathfinder would alleviate the niggly bits that cost a fortune from a shopping list. (Without direct dealer parts sourcing, like an employee)

To me, finding one that a tree fell on it behind the front seats would be ideal. You may could even drive it beforehand.

Fever Racing, formaly Z-Fever, here in Florida offers a package to adapt the CD0 series 6spd from to a VK56. I dont have any experies with the product or the company since its re-branding. However if my swap with the auto goes well, I will probably be looking into this as the next phase.
If you wan to look into it I would give them a call 813-877-7600. The online info leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
If do i would be interested to your findings.

depends on how good of deal you get.
i got a whole titan for 2000$.

cant really beat that especially for the smaller bits you need.

ive been parting it out for the last 6 months and ive made half my money back. so 1000$ in for all the really important bits.
not bad at all.

Collins adapters as probably a better bet

I didn't have a problem with either flex computer on mine, I did have the flex engine/ injectors though. Pretty sure the tuner can set a flex computer to the non flex injectors though. Bigger problem I had was the first flex computer was for a non-BT Titan so I wouldnt be able to use cruise control if I hit 45mph or higher until I restarted, and only then until I hit 45mph on the trip. I just used 23710-zr15b for the second ECU and now my cruise control works all the way around. Really no difference between them except that in regards to power or mileage.

Thanks. I picked up a 2wd vk56 pathfinder ecu but then realized it was not already a "supported" ecu from UpRev so i was concerned my truck was going to be dead in the water for two weeks as thats the time they indicate on the site. I had a 2wd titan ecu laying around that i was going to just use instead or in the mean time but it was a flex.
In the end it didnt matter. UpRev actually got me the file i needed in less than 48 hours. The motor has since been started. Just buttoned it up to a driveable state last night. Going to drive it around for a couple days and make sure i dont want/need to change anything.

so everything runs fantastic, idles great, revs great. HOWEVER......I seem to be stuck in 4th gear. Im assuming im in trans limp mode because i have codes P0725 ENGINE SPEED SIGNAL and P1705 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. Ive verified all grounds are connected. I seem I can monitor vehicle speed in the TCM with my scan tool but Throttle position seems to always read constant. When i monitor throttle position in the ECU it reads correctly.
Any ideas?

Was your transmission out of a column shift titan?

Not 100% sure but I had a suspicion of a problem with the TCM and after talking back and forth with Griokin I tried swapping out the valve body assembly (which includes the TCM) from the frontier transmission into the titan transmission. Everything bolts right up between the two. Took me about an hour to pull both and install the one (not including time draining and filling fluid).
So for anyone having an issue with their titan transmission staying in limp mode with no engine issues may want to try swapping their frontier valve body into the titan trans or just do it as part of your swap in the first place.

Yup to the above. I think I posted that I did the same late 2017 after talking to the guys at level10. I have probably almost 20,000 or so miles on the trans after doing the tcm swap and it is working totally fine. It definitely opens the options when trying to piece together a swap and I would definitely do the tcm swap before putting the trans in if it is a column shift trans.

Same. I’ve been driving daily for a month now on a stock ROM. Have had no issues. Now that I know everything is good I think I’m going to unlock the throttle plate restriction and Clean up the tune a little.
All in all, very easy swap. I probably spent the same amount of time laying out and welding the exhaust as I did the actual swap part. Also Probably way cheaper to just buy a wrecked donor truck.

Can't wait to get started on this project. Have the motor/trans, just need to clean out the garage so I have a good working space to start pulling things apart.
