I would like to stock up on Mobile 1 or BOSCH Engine Oil filter for my newly acquired Frontier ( I love it so far). But everywhere I look, Autozone, Advanced AUto Parts, Walmart, etc., even Amazon do not seem to have them listed on their websites.

I know the OEM filter on the TRUCK is 152083-U1B by looking at the part number on the filter can mounted in the bottom. Does anyone know the cross-reference part number of other leading brands?
ie) K&N Filter #?, Mobile 1 filter #?, BOSCH filter #?

Also has anyone performed an oil change ? Would love to see "how-To" video or some pics....

My 2020 came with the 15208-9E01A. I just did the first oil change (2500 miles) and used a Fram 3717 that is listed for ALL Nissans. It does appear that the filter that came on the truck might have a bypass valve, the Fram does not so that concerns me a little.

My old 97 Hardbody had the bypass valve in the filter adapter so the filter didn't need one. Eventually it stuck open and when I did the next oil change, the filter was completely dry, not a drop of oil ever went through it for 7500 miles. I guess that would make a case for putting the bypass valve in the filter instead of the filter adapter, new BPV every time you change the filter. Problem is I don't know what Nissan is doing about the BPV, can't find that info.

Done my first oil change. The dealer didn’t have the new updated ‘22 filter in stock yet. 9E01A works fine and is what I used. I prefer to use Nissan oem filters over any aftermarket brand. Nissan filters are made pretty good and just as good if not better than anything you’ll find at your parts store. I also have OCD and want only original parts on my vehicles. My opinion is, go to the dealer and get the 9E01A if they don’t have the 31U1A.

Z1offroad say they have the new 31U1A in stock on their website but haven’t confirmed.

Don't get hung up on the newest/latest/updated part number. Sometimes numbers change simply for new computer systems, or inventory management reasons. Other times the part has been modified, other times a change of suppliers.

Car makers will do anything to save 20¢. Don't automatically assume the new part number is better than the old, as it's just as likely, if not more likely, that it's inferior to the prior number, made cheaper with cheaper materials to keep the retail price acceptable. As the saying goes, they don't make them like they used to.

There is no new filter for 2022. It's the same filter that fits the 4.0L .

Here's an interesting video of a Supertech MP7317 and an OEM Honda filter being cut open. The OEM Honda filter has paper end caps??? I'll pass.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 2015 Honda Accord Sport. I like it better than a 2019 Toyota Camry I rented, and I like it better than my wife's 2021 Mazda 6. I just won't use an OEM Honda oil filter.

Searching for OEM filters for my '22 now. According to the Nissan parts website, the latest part number is:
#15208-9E01A.
It says that it supersedes part #15208-31U1B.
Strangely though my Vin # doesn't even show up on their database when it's entered. I guess they haven't updated. So it's difficult to pinpoint some parts with them for the '22.

And Z1 Off-road shows the #15208-31U1B as the correct one for the '22. And they show #15208-9E01A as the part number for older Frontiers.
Confusing!

15208-31U1A was the original oil filter for the Frontier. It is the SAME filter that fits the 21 TITAN as well.
then it was revised to 15208-31U1B for both vehicles.

Now its been changed to 15208-9E01A, which is the OEM recommended for the 21 Titan.

The appear to be equivalents, but there is no bulletin I can find to specify the specific changes in the filters. The look identical. One was made in Japan by MAHLE, and one was made in Mexico.

I ended up ordering a couple of OEM oil filters from Z-1 offroad. They state part #15208-31U1B for the '22. I also ordered an OEM engine air filter to have on hand. Part #16546-9BT1A. With
Z-1 you pay shipping but the prices are a tad lower. In the end it works out about the same as buying from the dealer and saves the trip.
For me it's OEM all the way for basic parts like this. I've done that with every single vehicle I've ever owned and never had issues. Unless the goal is some high performance thing that you're after, you can't go wrong with factory parts.

I have "cut" many of an oil filter top off. There are special can opener tools for the process. On piston aircraft engines you always open the filter up to check for metal. When I purchased my 2001 Pathfinder with the then new 5.3 l V6 engine there were very few manufacture of oil filters for the engine. I used a Purolator oil filter and opened it up. The outside can was the normal Nissan size can and behold there was a filter about 1" diameter and the filter medium was less than 1". So yes there is a big difference between filters. Some like Amsoil have a double type of filter medium, STP has two also. "Double oil Filter" .

I use WIX oil filters
2022 - NISSAN - FRONTIER (Pass Car_Light Truck) 57356XP or 57356
These are the 2 choices on their website cross reference.
Looking forward to doing my first oil change.

Purolator for me if I have a choice. WIX second. Those are typically constructed with higher quality.
