Thanks for an excellent series of posts cps! Regarding the small diameter Engine Coolant Hose 14056 EA205 (P/N appears on hose in photo) that terminates at the throttle body after running across the front of the engine, how do I remove the hose from the mounting clip as seen here? Maybe a wide-bladed screwdriver in that open slot in front? Thank you.

Yes, you use a flat blade screw driver, put it in that front slot closest to the fan blades, pry downward while twisting flat blade screwdriver side to side, and the top flap will open up!

Replaced my hose yesterday CPS and your clip release tip was perfect -- no sweat. Upon removing the hose after 100,000 Miles of service, it was soft and I'm not surprised that it was leaking.

Glad to hear everything worked out! Yep, my hoses (coolant) were soft too, better to be safe than sorry. All of my PCV, cross over, and brake booster hoses were all dried out and brittle. Take a good look at those...

Andrew, no problem at all! I am just glad CF members are using my Sticky's! As you know, they do take a lot of work, but if a thread helps just 1 or more members out, then it makes it all worth it! As my father told me, "what comes around, goes around"!

Great write up for sure. At what year/mileage are you guys finding it appropriate to swap the hoses out?
Chris, I would change out all rubber components every 10 years or 120,000 miles! Which ever comes first! Mine just happen to be 9 1/2 years and 124,000 miles.

When rubber is exposed to oil, coolant, PS fluid, brake fluid, and HOT gases (PCV valve), the norm is NO more than 10 years! Rubber just breaks down under these conditions.

On another note, there is a reason you are supposed to replace your clothes washer machine HOT and COLD hoses every 10 years too! They are rubber too! As I found out last month, my COLD hose busted after 10 years, and flooded our food pantry! And yes, I had stainless steel braided rubber hoses. I guess 10 years 7 months was too long! Hehe

Second worst pain in the butt hose removal and install (I did it without removing intake manifold)
View attachment 84490
Side by side comparison of the old style (2 hoses and 4 clamps) and the new one piece hose with 2 hose clamps. I did reuse 2 of the old hose clamps for this install.

11823-EA20A (this is the new superseded part number)
Reused old clamps

Valve cover to valve cover PCV crossover hose (this old hose was the most brittle, it actually broke in half like glass)

New hose, there are no clamps from the factory

Changed out my PCV valve and all three PCV hoses today. Just like the OP, my crossover hose snapped when I removed it. Thanks for the all the work you put into this thread CPS - it made the whole process super quick and easy.

Thanks CPS,

I spent last weekend replacing all the hoses ( I could get to anyway) on a '05 frontier and '06 pathfinder. Your list helped a great bit. I did have a couple additional hoses on the Pathfinder with rear air and heat. I changed all fluids in both as well as radiators and brake hoses. Spent a lot of money , but no car notes so it was not terrible .

Irony struck me Tuesday... oh, that was an F150 not irony. Got rear ended but not too much damage. some new paint and a bumper will be soon repaired.

Thanks again!

Sorry to hear about your truck! I hope no one was injured.

Yes it cost a bit of money to do all the hoses, but you are right, it is cheaper than a monthly truck payment!!!!!!

Glad to help,

over due follow up

Everything hoses and fluids have been great on both vehicles. Got the rear end damage fixed and truck looks good again! Thanks again for the time you spent putting the hose information together.

CPS. Resurrecting this old but very useful thread. First a big THANK YOU to CPS for taking the time to write this thread.
My 2005 Nismo 6MT (142K miles) started a vibration at idle and it fluctuate between 6 and 7K rpm. You can feel it on the gear shifter and on the seat. It has started doing it more and last week check engine light started flashing (P0303 and P0300 codes). Replaced all 6 plugs # 3 igniion coil on order. Truck runs now but vibration is obvious. I will look at all the hoses and will replace all those that I can. The PCV valve is the one I am trying to get to but I cannot even see it. CPS: Was there any trick involved in removing the PCV valve from the back of the intake? Also was the cross over PCV hose difficult to remove?

Thank You in advance.
