Hey,
Just ordered a new 2022 Pro4X, looking to upgrade tires before putting in miles. Was wondering specifically is 285/70/17s would fit without any mods? And/or if 1-2” wheel spacers may help?
It will rub and spacers will make it worse. I have 1.5" spacers and a 4" lift and it rubbed. Had to remove the mud flaps and trim down the area. Read through the thread for more details.

285-70R17 on a SV with no lift. Just the front valance removed. Barely rubs at full lock when suspension is compressed. I bet you a Pro4X would not rub at all with that size tires. View attachment 337752
That’s so badass I love the gray wheels to match the accents of the truck. And the tires are nice and fat, fit the wheel wells well.

Hey folks, first post here and figured since this seems to be the popular tire thread I'll ask here. After 15 years with a 2015 Frontier I am in a nice 22 SV Crew Cab 4x4. Never done any wheel shopping for trucks before. What are the reliable and highly rated wheels I should look at? I see a lot of Black Rhinos in posts, any other names?

Respectfully,
Catalin

Level 8 is a good brand. I’m looking at their MK6 wheels for my S 4x2.

Well folks.... I've learnt the hard way... 285-70/17 do not fit. I have 17x8.5" wheels with 0 offset which is a factor for sure... But I don't think they'd fit anyways. MAYBE on stock wheels?

Lift is on the way (thankfully), and the heat gun and zip disc will be coming out.

Oops.

He's got 0 offset wheels that are 8.5" wide. Are you at a stock offset & width?
That makes a big difference!
Heck I got a 4" lift with 1.5" spacers that equate to about -3 offset, with factory width wheels and I still rubbed.

Yes, I’m stock dimensions. I might be talking to soon here but I believe 10mm offset is the most you can have and not rub on “33”

You're probably right!
But yeah, for sure yours is ok because of the stock width and offset.

So this is exact setup I want. I thought it was known it would fit but would rub and would need plastic trimming. Can you not just trim and have it work? Lrod had to trim and he’s on -3 offset due to spacers and he’s on a lift. So why wouldn’t a 0 offset fit without spacers. 275 would fix this problem right. Should I stick to 275 and not 285

From what I can see, a little creativity with a heat gun and a grinder should work.... But it will be tight. Once the lift is on it will be that much better. I had my shop put them on and I couldn't even leave.... Had to go back to factory.

I'm sure you're right. As everything was going down I was like "how did I mess this up?"... Then I saw your post. I had taken some measurements at full lock and figured I had enough room. I did not however take measurements along the way to full lock. This is where the issues are. I'll make them fit... But I wasn't able to today. Lift should be here in a week. I'll hit it all at once.

Would you mind enlightening me on your trim/heat molding job? Were you having issues in the same areas I've circle d? I'm not too worried about behind the wheel, but that little corner in front has me a little worried. Once lifted it will clear when flat... But I'm concerned about turning when compressed on either side.

Thanks a bunch!

The only trimming that was necessary was on that back side. They grinded the area after removing the mud flap. I had zero issues with the front that has you worried!

Just a grinder? No heat moulding?

Have you been playing in the bush at all? If so, any rub up front?
That's all grinding. No heat!
So far light trailing only. Nothing substantial that would rub.
