In my experience and after owning about 18 vehicles, the Nissan Frontier is, hands-down, one of the most reliable platforms out there. Especially if you keep them stock and unmodified. My 2016 Frontier with the 4.0 VQ40 engine has 202,000 miles on it and I have its complete service history (since I bought it brand new). It's never broken down, it's never been in the shop, and it has no major faults.

In fact, I only have had 2 CELs and repairs on the truck. My first CEL was a clogged EVAP canister which was replaced at 140k. My second CEL was a faulty MAF which I replaced at 197,000.

I haven't done any work to the engine, transmission, or major components such as alternators/starters/etc. All my interior buttons work, all windows work, and literally everything works as it should on the truck. It's pretty capable off road as well.

I really think the Frontier is one of the best and cheapest trucks to own. I bought mine for 32k out the door. It's been great. I'll write a 200k review one of these days. I think my truck is going to run 300k or more, easy. I don't plan on buying another vehicle until this one is dead.

I'd like to know much more about the 4.0 engine...designer, weaknesses, strengths, improvements, etc. Is this engine superior to previous V6 models? I've always loved the 2.4 liter 4s of yesteryear, but the power of this beast is incredible! I just bought an S model crew. Very basic and stripped down, but peppy! I am coming up on my first oil change.

Thanks.
Do you know what a safe overbore for a 4.0 is also what roller cam works well with an safe overbore and head work any other additional upgrades necessary ? Like push rods, adjustable ? liffyers solid or hydrolic plus any other options that would insure a safe build,. So respectfully if you can't answered this reliably do you know someone who can,. Thanks kerrykraemer48@gmail.com

There are no pushrods. No lifters either per se, since it’s an overhead cam engine. Not sure if leapvaun is even still here. His part of this thread took place 5 years ago.
