In my experience and after owning about 18 vehicles, the Nissan Frontier is, hands-down, one of the most reliable platforms out there. Especially if you keep them stock and unmodified. My 2016 Frontier with the 4.0 VQ40 engine has 202,000 miles on it and I have its complete service history (since I bought it brand new). It's never broken down, it's never been in the shop, and it has no major faults.
In fact, I only have had 2 CELs and repairs on the truck. My first CEL was a clogged EVAP canister which was replaced at 140k. My second CEL was a faulty MAF which I replaced at 197,000.
I haven't done any work to the engine, transmission, or major components such as alternators/starters/etc. All my interior buttons work, all windows work, and literally everything works as it should on the truck. It's pretty capable off road as well.
I really think the Frontier is one of the best and cheapest trucks to own. I bought mine for 32k out the door. It's been great. I'll write a 200k review one of these days. I think my truck is going to run 300k or more, easy. I don't plan on buying another vehicle until this one is dead.
