Thanks for confirming yours doesn't fit like that
I have owned 5 ARE caps over thirty years and I have never seen anything like your photo, nor had any problem with the fitment of my cap on my truck. I do know that most of the problems I have seen with caps fitting correctly to the bed has come from the cap dealer installing them incorrectly. Your cap dealer shouldn't have ever given you the truck in that condition. That is horrible and if the cap dealer felt there was something wrong with the construction of the cap, they should have sent it back to the manufacturer without ever trying to install it on your truck. It just seems like that is very poor workmanship in order to get paid. Good luck with your cap dealer and if you need any photos or help, just let me know.

Hi Steve - it looks amazing. Would you mind to share a ballpark numbers and mostly how long was the waiting for supply and installing? Does it require any drilling into the Frontier body or trims?

Pete, Thanks for the complement! The cap was $2575 plus $315 for the Yakima rail system and $100. for the install.....8 years ago it was $1750.....go figure, The wait was 6 weeks from the time of order to the time of install. They use a form of "C" clamps in 4 locations inside the cap to secure to the bedsides sandwiching a rubber "O" type seal between the cap and the truck (no leaks!). No holes are drilled. They also wire in the third brake light (standard). Mine also came with a bottle of touch-up paint. Total cost with tax was $3229.20

Are any of you Gen 3 owners w/ an above-cab aero topper able to help a Gen 2 guy out? I'm wanting to know just how much vertical room there is from the bed surface to the bottom of the open rear door entrance of your topper when the rear door is open. This is a vertical plum line kind of distance measurement. Really appreciate the assistance here. TIA! 🤠

Does this topper look familiar to anyone? Someone posted on Facebook but not a lot of details. Hoping to track down some more photos of the setup.

I've got one on order, but i ordered directly from China so it's gonna take a while to get here. Heck of a lot cheaper too. They also gave me the option of aluminum or steel, so I went for aluminum.

Do you mind sharing what you paid? Looks great!
Thank you! I paid $3176 OTD from a buddy's pick-up accessory shop in central CA. It is a 100S version that I customized with tilt-up side windows and a removable slider cab access window. Standard flannel liner and LED battery lights inside. Took Leer 5 months to get it made and shipped in mid '23. Really happy with how Leers wear over a long period of time in the sun and heat (and occasional snow). Used them over the last few decades on my various work and personal trucks with good results.

Two questions as I start looking for a camper shell for my 2023. 1. Does any one have a side profile picture of a mid-rise camper shell on their third Gen?
2. My knees complain a lot more now about crawling to the front of my bed. Are any of the side opening windows large and sturdy enough to pull toolboxes etc.through, or is one of those sliding bed trays a better option?

Hey @Ruddigger !!?

Asking pretty please! Should I need to convert from my Gen 2 to a Gen 3, the above measurement will be crucial as to whether I can use it for my work cargo...

i dont know what an aero topper is, but mine has 40” of space.
Huge thanks, dude!!
The non-aerodynamic above-cab toppers are the commercial types that don't gradually ramp up from the cab going rearward...they are simply far less aerodynamic being square at the front as well as at the back (door). Being square at the back is advantageous since it provides more interior space and length compared to the angled-forward rear door of your/my aero toppers. I'll also venture to guess that commercial above-cab toppers are noisier at hwy speed besides being less aerodynamic.
