Radio Removal for 02-04
Since the sticky is long and doesn't have any pictures here is my shot. I think it would be similar for the 6cyl except you pop out the part around the shifter. I managed to take pictures of about everything except connectors on the back. I did it on my 2004 XE auto.
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Pull up the bottom tray I pulled it up with my fingers not prying to keep the plastic looking good.
3. Then there are 2 screws once the bottom piece is removed that have to be taken out.
4. Then remove the screws right above the head unit.
5. Once they are removed you can pull off the front plate that includes the airvents, power outlet, airbag lock and light. Be carefull since the connectors catch some in the holes that the wires go through. Also there is some foam to seal of the vents and might come loose and mine the glue was sticky so I just restuck it around.
6. I just put the plate off to the side. I did not undo all the conectors.
7. Then there are 2 screws on each side of the head unit that need to be taken out. Use care when taking out the screws it will fall off the tabs and drop slightly.
8.Then it will slide out. The antenna connection on mine was the standard one. To get the connectors out the back you have to depress the tabs and pull the connector out at the same time. It takes a little effort but it will come out.
I hope this helps since I have already been helped out multiple times on the forum.
