Hi Mark here, I have a 2010 Nissan Frontier SE 2x4 Automatic 4.0L with 70k miles on her.

Transmission is fluid properly full, color is fine. Curious if it's my transmission. My truck acceleration has response which is good, shifts smoothly, no noises/grinding, NO CEL lights ever, say I'm going 25-60mph my rmps go up then dip down fluctuate weirdly to about 1k-1.2k rpms with a low load, give it gas goes to appropriate rpms. Do have little rough idle. Sucks gas intown driving. Hwy gas mileage is perfect going 80-85mph and rpms hold around 2400-2600.

Can't find an air leak I know or see of.

Replaced spark plugs myself, intake manifold gaskets might as well since spark plug #1,3,5 suck to get at. Wiped out throttle body/mass airflow cleaned.

Coolent is cystal clear green.

I use 89 fuel, I do get some pinging sounds where the catalytic converter are both sides. Sound goes away in like 5min or bit less.

Just the overdrive kicking in-and-out ??? Try turning off the overdrive and see if that stops the RPM from hunting around. I turn OFF my overdrive every time I get in my truck, until I know I'm jumping on the highway. It's not needed when in-town driving, and keeps the tranny from many unnecessary hunting/shifting.
