Parts that are interchangeable...

I've searched around this forum and a couple of others but I haven't been able to find anywhere that says what parts are interchangeable on the 1st gen frontiers. What I mean is, are there any parts from the xterra, pathfinder, or any other Nissan vehicle that will fit on the frontier?

Nothing in particular right now but just so I had some ideas. Just list off some parts in the motor, interior, and exterior that are interchangeable if you don't mind. I'm not too worried about suspension right now but i'll have to keep looking for that kinda stuff. I just have no need for it right now. lol

Thanks

The interchangeable parts between the 1st gen Frontier and 1st gen Xterra are infinite. For the body and interior, imagine a line drawn along the back of the front seats and and everything forward is the same or interchageable. Engine and drivetrain is all the same and front suspension is the same. We also have like drivetrain and suspension parts with all the hardbody years(pickups and pathfinders) and the tailgate is interchangeable with the hardbody tailgate too. 3rd generation Pathfinder with the 3.3L also has like engine components and few like drivetrain parts.

Please note when I say parts are interchangeable there are a few exceptions, the biggest being that most drivetrain parts are not the same between the 4cyls and 6cyls. The difference in engine components goes without saying.

I don't know if you have seen my project but I think you would enjoy this, the Nissan Fronterra... I did an Xterra front end swap and then went with fiberglass all around.

You can fit any engine in anything if you try hard enough but the 3.5 out of a Pathfinder is not a direct swap. It is a VG series engine (VG33 and VG35) but i don't think it will bolt up to our transmissions and then there is the little issue with the engine harness and ECU. I know a guy that built his 3.3 to a 3.5 and I am pretty sure he had more power than a stock 3.5 so there are other options if you want to upgrade your engine to that degree.

I always wondered what the X front end would look like on the Fronty. I like it. If I had money to burn I'd do it, for no reason other than to be different.
Yup, now you know why I did it. Also why my truck is not finished as I have more time than money. When people ask about it I say its a modified Xterra and some people believe it:nana:

99.9% sure the hardbody bumper will bolt right up. The xterra bumper I dont think will even be close.

What about the rear seat cushion from a 2000 xterra, will that fit in my 2002 frontier CC? I have a one piece cushion while the xterra has a two piece. Its brand new in the box versus mine which has 182,xxx miles of dog butt. No rails, just the cushion. Worth my time for $40?
Are you talking about just the cushion or the whole seat bottom with the upholstery cover?

Will all Nissan 6 bolt wheels fit a 2012 Frontier or just certain year models?

No. The 2005-2012 Frontier has the bolt pattern 6x4.5" while pretty much every other truck Nissan has made is a 6x5.5".

thanks...used frontier bumpers are hard to find around here
Goodluck with the search. Frontier rear bumpers are hard to find in general, not just your area.

There are a bunch of stock ones on eBay. I can't imagine they are all genuine Nissan. Where they come from, who knows.

As far as aftermarket offroad/heavy duty style bumpers, Shrock makes one, so does KMA. A custom rear bumper should be a quick and easy job for any competent fab shop if neither of those two fit your needs.

Another thing from Hardbodys I know is interchangeable is the tailgate, and the beds are the same size. They are WAY more similar than most may think. A first gen Frontier is more closely related to a Hardbody than a second gen Frontier, they have absolutely nothing in common other than a model name.

Swap for Xterra Seats. YES, 100%
Dont think pathfinder seats are a direct swap.
Altima Seats, i've seen a thread where a guy got the leather seats out of an Altima and just had to swap the rails (feet) and he was good to go. An Altima of the 2000ish style.

Rust isnt really a problem. Just find one that needs the least amount of work. Ontario uses salt in the winter so on an 18+ year old truck every used part you find will have rust to some degree. I'm a welder fitter fabricator so to me rust is easy.

It would have to come from a 1994 or 1995 Nissan pickup with V6/AT/4x4 and the same emission certification (Federal or California emissions). You might want to try Car-part.com.
