I'd been overdue for an oil change, and I'd put it off like an idiot, because life got busy. I had low oil, but I put new oil in.
Around the same time, it's shut off a couple of times after about an hour of driving with a p0340 camshaft code. To me, the timing is a bit suspicious.

The code that I'm showing is for the cam sensor itself, but is it possible that something worse is going on? I'm hoping it's a bad sensor, but I'm a bit paranoid

What year, what's your mileage, did you change the oil yet?

If the code and shutdown occur after a long drive, likely that the heat is getting to the sensor and making it malfunction. If you choose to diagnose it, be sure to do so when the engine is warm, to replicate the potential heat-related failure. If you choose to fire up the parts cannon and simply replace it based on the OBDII code, be sure to use an OEM sensor from a Nissan dealer.

I had a similar situation 2 weeks ago around 100k miles. Low a quart of oil and got code P0335 which is the crankshaft position sensor. Truck was running real rough, shifting erratically, and barely starting. I was really concerned with being low a quart of oil. I replaced the ckp sensor and changed the oil and haven't had any issues after 400 miles so far. The magnetic sensor had some tiny metal shavings, but nothing scary. My thinking is things just got pretty hot in there with low oil and that popped the sensor. Definitely was a big reminder for me to check that oil more often. Hopefully yours is as simple as replacing the camshaft sensors. May not be the worst idea to do the crankshaft one while you're at it.
