Any suggestions on how to improve performance..This truck is really hard on gas.

a lot of it is how you drive. quite a few people complain about the mileage, some are doing fine. I get 17-20 depending on the time of year.

Iam Sure Youre Getting Better Than My 11.2 In Town And 13.6 On The Freeway. For The Absolute Best Mileage Youll Ever Get Out Of Your Truck Do What I Do........

Performance?

The Frontier is strong for its V6 VQ40. I expected it when I got mine.

Nothing to say if you have a heavy foot.

However, if you want to save a little gas and you don't have a heavy foot:
1. From a stop, hit the gas till your Frontier hits the speed you want as soon as you can. From there on, try to stay at that speed as long as you can.
2. Don't try to apply the brake more than you need to, because everytime you brake, you'll have to bring the truck back to higher speed, and that'll cost you more gas.
3. Buy gas when it's cold, because when it's hot, the pressure in the tank builds up and you only have 0.93 gal. instead of 1.0 gal. of gas. Don't wait till your gas tank emptied out before bumping more gas, because the amount of volume you'll bump into the tank also builds up pressure. Bump gas into tank at a slow speed, because bumping gas a fast speed also builds up pressure.

What do you do to your truck to have 11.2 in-town, Bill???

I LOST 2 MPG WITH THE BFG AT'S, AND I HAVE MORE THAN 700#'S OF ADDITIONAL WEIGHT, AND THATS NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE NOISE AND WIND RESISTANCE ON THE ROOF.
BESIDES I LOOSE MORE MONEY BEING ON HERE THAN I LOOSE ON GAS:nana:
I ACTUALLY PICKED UP 1 MPG ON THE FREEWAY YESTURDAY FROM GRINDING THE RIBS OUT OF THE POWERAID(OXYMORON) TBS, AND TAKING OUT THE GRID IN THE INTAKE BEHIND IT

It's simple. Keep your foot out of it.
If you accelerate lightly and let the truck get into overdrive anytime your between 40 and 70, ( Tach @ 1200-2100) you should get 20 mpg.
