There is a 07 nismo parked at my sons school all the time.. it has 20's on it with Pirelli's.. they look like nice tires! $$$$$$$$$$$$$

 

I had Pirelli Scorpions on my Tacoma. They rode awesome, looked awesome and wore like iron, quiet too. The A/T version were what I had.

When these BFGs die I'll be looking at the Scorpions again.

Tire height around 30.5" will keep your odo and speedo accurate (stock SE tires are 265/70/16).

Edit: 285/55/18 is 30.34" tall . . . that's why that size is recommended.

 

Yeah, I know that is part of why they recommend them, but 265/60-18 are also 30.4"-30.5" tall as well, and have a much bigger selection. Don't really want A/T tires, since it is always on road. Figure better mileage with street tires.

 

That's true about the 265/60/18 but the 285s would be .79" wider giving you more grip. Pirelli Scorpions come in a street tire also STRs

How about the Goodyear Fortera TripleTread. It has superior to excelent rating across the board. And available in a 265/65-18 (35.6 OD and 10.4 width). Just put a set om my wifes Pathfinder on stock 16" wheels. Not enough miles for long term recommendation, but ride way better than the BFG Rugged Streets ever did and very quiet. I picked this tire for wet weather traction as well as dry. Don't get much snow, so that part of the TripleTread will be applied to wet and dry as well.

yeah im runnin 275/65R18 on my nismo rims... their like 32'' but my truck is lifted

 

defiantly go with 285's. you will love the way they look.

 

I put Roadhugger XRT 265/60/18's on my Nismo's. The 285's do look good but in most cases are a little taller, which I didn't want to go that direction. I think both sizes work well on our trucks and are a big improvement over the stock ones.

 

i went with the 265/60 r18 on mine (not nismos, but 18s). tires are kumho ecsta stx since my truck is street only. i went with the 265 since mine is a 4 cyl. they fit like stock and i have 0 complaints.

I have a LT285/65r18 on my nismo's, which is a 33 inch tire. Probably not what you want!!

 

I need to see a good pic of your truck. I have been trying to decide on a tire size for my nismo wheels that I bought months ago and I'm pretty sure the 285 65 is what I want. Please post a pic or two if you can, I would live to see if my decision is right. thanks in advance.

WHat did you pay for them?

 

$500 shipped from a dealer in Tennessee. I called probably 7-8 dealerships that I was told had them in stock. Was quoted over $300 each from most dealerships (one said $1650 with shipping for 4 and they are only 500 miles from me). The problem is that a lot of the dealers have had them sitting for awhile and paid the original price for them.

My favorite was one dealer who I told that my local dealer had them for $112 (Courtesy), but they were sold out. He said they couldn't come close to that price because they paid a lot more for them. My thought is, if you haven't been able to sell them in the last 4-5 months for retail and you have someone actually interested, wouldn't you at least entertain taking a loss to get rid of them? That has to make more sense than letting them sit on the shelf for months unsold. Oh well, I got them and am very happy.

Hey Sleepy, I'm gonna be in your neck of the woods next weekend. Flying in to Tyson-McGhee for a week in Gatlinburg.

Anyway, I've got the ball rolling on buying a set of the 18" Nismos for myself. I should seal the deal tomorrow.

I have two concerns:

1. What happens if I need to buy a replacement in the future? Good news is nothing usually happens to wheels unless they hit something - curb, etc.

2. What will they look like/how will they perform on a 4x4? I'm looking at the 265/60R18 size to keep the odometer/speedometer pretty close. Looks like there's still enough meat there to give a decent ride and work reasonably well offroad.

 

i think we will basically be SOL if anything happens to a rim. I pretty much figure if one gets messed up,i will be dropping cash for a new set of rims...and then selling mine 1 by 1...

not sure on the look of a 4x4....love mine on the street truck look.

Well, I bought the wheels today. Should have them Friday. I'm picking my tires up from TireRack tomorrow and I'll have the whole setup mounted Saturday. Thanks to gti for the heads-up on where to buy them.

At roughly $100 a piece, why not buy a fifth as an extra in case something happens?

That's what I plan on doing. Then I can just keep it in my garage in case I ever need it.

 

nice looking wheels, i love the style of the new style nismo wheels then the ones for the first gens, get some nice tires for them and that would be a killer street truck, you have plans to do a mild lowering kit?

 

I would love to drop mine 2-3", but if I do it, it will probably be a little while. I would go with custom leafs/coils in front because I don't feel very good about removing a leaf from mine.
