I have the stock cd player in my frontier and with almost any burned cd i put in it the error message comes up.... however i can press fast forward a bunch of times as soon as i put the cd in and it will work maybe every 1 out of 3 times and it will play the whole cd through as many times as i want, it's just getting it first going that is a problem, and i tried using diff cd's, cd burner program, im using just regular cd-r's. i thought this was kinda weird, anyone else have the same problem?

Plays every time

almost every cd that i have put in my stock (non RF) unit has been a cd-r and they have played every single time.
Same here...

Stock single CD system with no mods, base Windows burning software and it plays every time.

I swear my cd player does not like my taste in music.
with burned cd's it picks and chooses which ones to play.

Short answer - try burning from a different PC and see if that helps. It did for me.

I do know that the hardware - not just the software - can vary how a CD is recorded. One may work fine in one player, but not in another. The ones from my home PC work (mostly) while the ones from my old laptop wouldn't work at all.

i tried using a different program from the 2 i had on my computer and needless to say it works fine now and plays all my cd's.. i just used the itunes cd burner and it converted all my songs to a weird format but it works fine now. thanks for the replies, just glad it was something small since i dont have the money for a new cd player

I've had the exact same thing happen. There seems to be a correlation with my cd player acting up and the outside humidity. I bought my truck last year in June and it was a problem I noticed right away and dealt with all through the summer. It magically fixed itself in about September and I didn't have a problem until June again. My guess is it's humidity because it was plenty hot here in May but it only acted up in June when the nasty humidity came.

all my burned cd's work fine for me. my cd player has never rejected one of my burned cd's.

I had the problem of mine rejecting my cd's. I changed the radio, problem gone!

I can top all that, one day mine refused to play an original...any original but it would play burnt CD's.

The next day it was fine, hasnt done it since.

I just wish it played mp3's...

software, recorder, media can all be factors.

Try writing the CD at a slower speed. I have found that it helps with players that are made to a price and are of questionable quality.
That's a great suggestion. Also, the brand of CD matters as some blanks are very cheaply made. I burn lots of DVDs, and in that case Japan makes the best. The cut-rate discs from Korea, Taiwan, etc. just plain suck. I order Taiyo Yuden brand from www.meritline.com and never burn coasters. Good stuff.
