Good Evening,

The other day I swung by my local Uhaul and scored. They had a CL III hitch in stock for the truck. I picked it up, along with a few accessories. To include a recovery hook, extension arm and ball, a nice combo plug that has the 7 and 4 pin connectors plus some wire harnesses.

I came home and undercoated the hitch so I could help keep the rust away a bit longer. Then I came here to make sure what I though I wanted to do, I could. Turns out I was a bit off track.

QUESTION: If I purchase and install 999T8-BR020, the 7 pin harness from Fontana Nissan, and I properly wire the two plugs on the rear frame to the Hopkins harness I bought, will both work? I am unable to locate a thread here that explains this, at least to how I can understand it. Sorry if someone has seen this before. I did search first :).

Or, do I need to also purchase the 4 pin harness for installation in the cab as well?

Thanks!

A lot of trucks have that plug. My buddie's 09 Ram has it stock in the 7 pin plug. There is a plug for both. Prolly so you don't have to worry about making sure you have an adapter at all times if you were to tow someone else's trailer. Makes sense, I thought about it myself a little not that long ago.

Thank you for the replies. So as I understand, if I purchase the 7 pin Nissan harness with the required relays and then wire properly wire the connectors at the rear of the truck to the combo plug I purchased, both will work.

It is off to buying the parts for me. Thanks :)

If you have an automatic, you should look into getting a transmission cooler. The dealership told me that the tow package from the manufacturer is better than the dealer installed because of the trans cooler and that it's needed to keep from destroying the trans.

All the auto trans Frontiers already have an extra cooler. Open the hood and it's just behind the grill.

One thing I don't have to worry about :) I have a 6M. I think my previous F350 with a 6M had a transmission cooler on it. My truck does not.
