Can someone please point me in the right direction on where to start fixing this issue? I mean I have a general idea but it's like four or five different things.I changed my spark plugs and I put some catyclean because the trucks been sitting awhile and a lot of soot has built up in my exhaust. Also it did have a strong smell of gas coming out if the exhaust. It's also got an excessive amount of exhaust smoke coming out. I just bought this truck. Im the second owner and it's only got a 143,000 miles on it. Like I said I've changed all six spark plugs and change the oil and I have put some catyclean in my tank. I got some professional run rite sledgehammer decarbonizing kit on the way. It's I can double expresso shot of the highest concentrations of superior detergent additives. Designed to drive out dirt and deposits rapidly removes deposits from fuel injectors, intake valves, ports and combustion Chambers. It helps to reduce emissions, improve acceleration and reduce octane requirements. It also helps to keep Catalytic converters free of carbon and soot maintaining their efficiency. It's a two-step introduction kit. A specially designed kit for Davico manufacturing including the sledgehammer fuel system ultra treatment in the sledgehammer RID Rapid Induction Deposit cleaner. This LOW VOC compliant aerosol introduction cleaner is designed for fast service times and is safe for o2 sensors and Catalytic converters. Can anybody out there let me know if this stuff that I got coming can possibly fix this code problem I have? Code P0172 & P0175 Bank 1 or Bank 2 or both. I'm only having PO175 pop up now. Which from what I've read and learned here lately is it means I'm running rich. So can someone please tell me if the stuff I got coming it's going to solve my problem? Thanks in advance

You need a mechanic, not a mechanic in a bottle. Proper diagnostics will yield your underlying issues. Sounds to me like your truck is running rich which may have already ruined your primary catalytic converters. IFF so, they will need replacing...BUT the cause of this needs to be addressed before putting new expensive cats back on.

That's what the run rite does. It brings your cat back and o2 sensors etc. As long as it's not too late. It's worth a try to me before putting a bunch of money into it. Sometimes it is as simple as mechanic in a bottle. What I got coming is what professionals use you can't just get it anywhere you got to order it and wait on it

I hope this works out for you, I really do. But, I'm a skeptic to miraculous fixes of end results that more than likely occurred due to inadequate preventative maintenance. Even so, running too rich for whatever reason/reasons is likely the culprit here and the damage may be irreversible.

Suppose you have an upset stomach. Somebody sells you a shake that will solve the problem. This is doc in a can. This has no chance of working but it sells a lot of shakes. Why would you believe a mechanic in a can will work? Your engine is killing itself by not knowing how to meter the fuel. Pouring something down its gullet is not going to help.
