Clutch Switch

I had a problem with intermittent starting. I really thought it was the clutch switch but I checked the forum first and found many folks had lost the rubber bumper that hits the switch. I checked and my rubber bumper was still on the clutch lever. I pulled it off and saw a hole worn through. What? The tip of the switch was poking through the hole. Weird.

I have seen that happen before as well. A new rubber plug or something a little more durable will solve your problem for sure. Good reminder that just because the rubber plug is still there, doesn't mean that it isn't damaged and causing a no-start or intermittent start condition.

I bolted a small machine screw through the hole. Easiest fast fix I could come up with.

I've had a couple of bad clutch switches in the past and just bypassed them so the vehicle would start in gear. But I never did that.

JB Weld a penny over the hole. Or a dime, if you're a big spender.

Or

Dorman Accelerator Pedal Stop Pad 74015 Most folks epoxy or JB Weld in a dime to press plunger on the stoplight switch or a dime if one is a big spender.
