i've been searching the internet trying to find this part for sale and i can't. it's the interlock switch that the clutch pushes in so the engine will turn over. the little plastic nub that sticks out broke off, so i have to use a paper clip to push in what's left of it to start it up. does anyone know where i may be able to purchase one of these? i'll head to pep boys tomorrow.

Apparently a common issue, mine hasn't had this yet, so I don't have a part number. See http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f8/clutch-safety-switch-button-86675/ Also check here, maybe you can find Nissan number for your model 2000 Nissan Frontier Brake & Clutch Pedal - NissanPartsDeal.com

I saw this posted:
Go to the hardware store and buy a small 1/4" bolt or smaller with a 7/16 nut put the bolt through the hole with the head of the bolt facing the clutch safety switch apply the nut to the bolt and tighten. It would probably be best to use the nut with the locking mechanism so it won't vibrate loose. Quick inexpensive easy fix that lasts forever.

Wow this is the first I've heard of this on newer vehicles, though I would believe it to be common still since it's plastic. (was always common problem on my older manuals). Typical fix "back in the day" was to just bypass it or push it closed with something and tape the **** out of it LOL.

Mine broke years ago, common issue.

Don't forget you can just use the clutch start cancel switch that is near the mirror adjustment switch to start it without pushing in clutch.

not on my truck. mine just has a blank panel between the mirror adjustment and the cargo light switch. if raymond~ doesn't end up having the part, i'll probably just jerry rig a bolt onto the thing so i don't have to push it in with a paper clip every time i start it. then i wouldn't even have to push the clutch in. would it pose any problems having the button being pushed at all times?

Yea, mine broke shortly after I got the truck ~28k. I don't even remember what I did to fix it but it was dirt simple...like electrical taping the remainder of the broken nub on. been good for over a year but I was just noticing the other day that I had to have the pedal all the way TO THE FLOOR so it might be wearing through.

NISMO opition?

Oh really, maybe that's a early NISMO thing? Well let me say I wasn't thinking about that switch and it took me a couple days to get by the dealer parts counter. I was standing outside my truck and pushing the button with one hand and turning the key with the other sort of stretched out, LOL. The newer plastic tab is better constructed heavier duty, I replaced mine in 2011 with no issues since. A bolt or even simpler it's just a switch, bypass it cutting the two wires and connecting them together, or the sticky tape over the switch?
