We bought our Crew Cab new in 2000. Past few years use it locally to haul stuff to the dump and for the 4x4 in snowy winters. Battery would no longer take a charge this past fall but we haven't had a need to use it, no snow yet. Noticed that the old battery was from 2008!! Bought a replacement, removed the old battery.

I've changed batteries since I was in my teens. Install positive and then negative. As soon as I barely touch the positive post a very loud alarm beep goes off!!! Good news is the new battery has plenty of juice.

I do not have the original keyfob. We are looking for my husband's. I had read somewhere to use the keyfob and opening and closing the doors in a certain order would turn off the alarm (and then lost the link). Of course I am betting that the keyfob battery is dead too! Does anyone Have any suggestions on turning off the alarm beep both without the keyfob and/or with the keyfob OR any other method??

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much!!! You win! I swear I'd tried different key combo's. What ended up working was to have the key in the lock and lock the door and leave the key there. Then I attached the negative battery cable, ran around to the key and unlocked the door. Worked perfect!!! If I had thought it through days ago... Now to put our baby up for sale :(. Next I get to work on my Vespa and get her sold too.

Take the battery out of the vehicle and put it on your workbench, Try to charge it there. Don't set it on concrete. Your system has gone without power and is doing weird things because it just started getting a little power. Just install the battery again and try to start it, It should be fine.
