I’m shopping for a 22 Pro4X. I’m considering what Nissan calls the “pro style step rails”. I know you can detach the steps that hang down low and just leave it like a slider, but is that advisable? Can it support the weight of the truck? What material is it made of?
If I need to save the $750 to put towards real sliders, I will.

If they’re a factory accessory, they’re most likely built cheap & designed to LOOK like the real thing. But I’ve been wrong once or twice.

Thats why I am going to get them.

And also to help the little ones and old folks with a leg up.

I dont have plans to offroad. If I do I'll pop them off and on as needed.
The steps are pretty low and really do help getting in. MY wife liked them on the test drive. I guess most of these trucks never see the dirt so probably why Nissan designed them this way. I wonder if they will fit on the second gen?

Besides the material, I'd be interested to see how they're mounted: to the body (inner rocker like the 2nd Gen) or to the frame. Anything mounted to the body is likely not going to hold up well to any significant wheeling.

They attach to the body seam/pinchweld they are not rock sliders. They will not protect your truck offroad. Save the money and get real rock sliders when they become available for the new bodystyle

Has anyone taking off the step parts as it looks like a torx's holding them on but did it leave markings on the bar? I'm thinking of leaving the black bar on and just taking off the step part. as the truck is low enough.
