I have a new 2010 Frontier SE. On my other vechicles I have had 2 sets of wheels and tires. One summer and one winter.

Does anyone have any recommendation on winter wheels??

My requirements:

Prefer stock size
Prefer black in color (i.e. easy to care for in the harsh winter months)
Prefer simple spoke pattern (i.e. easy to care for in the harsh winter months)
Must be sensor compatible
Must be reasonable in price (i.e. <150/wheel)

A couple additional question:

How expensive is an additional set of pressure sensors?
Can anyone recommend a good winter tire? (Mostly pavement driving but in varied conditions (i.e. both heavy snow and ice)

Thanks,
Chad

Hey Chad maybe we can help.

For wheels, I'd recommend the MB72 in 17". These are great wheels, easy to clean and affordable:

MB Wheels 72 custom rims

For tires I'd recommend the Hankook I pike RW11. These are a dedicated winter tire that is studdable (if your state allows it).

I would just consider a new set of wheels and tires for the summer and run your stockers in the winter. Thats what I do. I've got my 20" Ultra's wrapped in Nitto TG's for the summer and just run my stock wheels and tires in the winter months with the TPMS still in the stock wheels. I'm going to get new tires this winter more than likely. As for the TPMS goes, you'll have to make a choice on which set of wheels you want them to work on unless you want to make a trip to the stealership every spring and fall to have the other set activated because you can't have more than four sensors activated at a time. That is why the spare tire doesn't have a sensor. I just deal with my tire light through the spring summer and fall months. You will ignore the light after a while. DTD has some pretty sweet setups on their site that would be pretty nice for summer. I would personally rather just keep your stockers and get a nice set for the nicer months. That way you don't really have to worry about your wheels in the winter if you have a rough long winter. It's nice to not have to care as much about them cause you have a sexy set sittin in storage waiting for the sunny months. :)

Just my thoughts.

And if you want black, just save the money and either paint your stock wheels or spend half of what you would on a new set and have them powdercoated. The stock tires will be fine for a couple years untill they really start to get worn. Just put some sand bags in the back and you'll be good.

Like he said above. Get the nicer wheels for your normal driving and run the stockers for the winter.

Actually, if you're a 4x4 you don't really even need them. I didn't even have mine in there last winter. We had a pretty rough one last time too. Most of the time when it was sh*tty snowy out I had my quad in the back wich was about an extra 500 or so lbs. Usually when I did run my sand bags I used three though.
