Will these fit OK on stock 1998 Frontier? Daughter is soon to sell or trade her 1998 4WD Pathfinder, has 6-lug wheels with almost-new 235/75 R15 tires. My 1998 2WD stock Frontier has worn out tires, size 215/65 R15 on it, and I was wondering if there would be clearance issues if I bolted on her wheels and tires.

I did an online calculator thing, said her tires are 2.9 inches more diameter, so 1.45 inches at the top less clearance, and also her tires are 0.8 inches wider so would just out 0.4 inches more on the inside.

I don't want any rubbing of course. So does anyone know for this?

I do know the speedometer/odometer will read about 10% higher than my actual, not a big deal with 221K on it. Thanks.

Can't answer for certain, Cusser.
Can say that I ran 245/60-15 BFG T/As on my bone-stock '00 XE 4-banger w/ zero clearance issues. Your 235/75s are taller still, so there is that.
And, 235/60 is a near exact circumference match for 215/65 IIRC & fwiw. Ran 2 sets of Firestone's in this size.

They'll fit fine on the back. I had 31"x10.5" on the rear for about a year and had no problems with clearance. Don't know about the front.

Bigger tires than stock will make the speedo read lower than actual speed. You're covering more ground per rotation than the speedo is geared for. With those 31s my speedo read 71 but my GPS showed 80.

I have 265/65/17 on my 2002, never had a rubbing issue. Mine are 30.6 diameter.

I have 235/75/15's on my stock 1998 4x4 Frontier but I'm not sure how much higher it is set up than the 2wd model.
Yea, didn't think of that, mines a 4x4 also, 265/65.17.

I'm running 265/70 R16 on my stock 2000 Fronty 4x4- a 31.5 x 10.5 basically. No problems but I did crank the t-bars to get a little more clearance otherwise it would rub on big bumps. I think you'd be just fine with a 2wd truck as that's not a huge change in diameter.

I have a stock 1998 frontier with 31x10.50.x 15 no issues whats oever.
Trying to find some tires as well for my stock 2 wheel drive xe. Not an off roader but do hit light trails with my mountain bike. Is your frontier 2 wheel or wheel drive?
Looking for best option for larger tires without having to lift or change rims. If needed I won't mind adding a 3" lift. Thx for the info!!

Exactly. Larger wheels/tires rotate slower than stock, therefore your speedometer will read slower than you’re actually driving (& your odometer will read lower than actual). What’s more, your speedo will read variably-slower at different speeds. If you’re driving 80 with a speedo reading of 70mph, your speedo would likely read 35mph while driving 40mph..

I should update my situation. Daughter sold the Pathfinder a couple months after I posted and bought a 2013 Subaru. My 1998 Frontier is still doing fine with new tires on the stock wheels, and 265K miles.
