Which TPMS sensor

I am setting up a new set of wheels (used) and tires. I figure I would finally get a set of working sensors and seek input from you Gents. This is not a "I know how to use a pressure gauge" thread. So keep your "I hate change" comments out please.

First off our trucks use the 315mhz sensors. Next I will be getting the metal valve stem similar to OE, even though I believe the rubber ones will work. My questions is what shape is better or at least closer to stock. The oval or the square. Does it matter?

All of these sensors come preprogramed. That is fine. I currently do not have any working sensors in any of my wheels so I can either do the relearn, or I can borrow my buddies programmer.

Finally there use to be sensors that are categorized as "copy/clone" or programable sensors. This is handy if you have multiple sets of wheels, for example if you have summer and winter wheels/tires that you swap on seasonally. You program all the sensors to have the same ID, so when you swap wheels the TPMS computer does not need to be reprogramed. Anyone know more about this. I do not see any of the sensors listed as this type anymore. Maybe I just need to search more.

If any of my assumptions are incorrect please let me know. I am here to learn so welcome the feedback.

No real answer to your question but I run a set of the red ones you have pictured.

I’d prefer the rubber ons as they don’t break like the metal ones nor do metal caps seize in place on them.

You mean the rubber ones like this. They pull and pop into place like old school valve stems. Any more information you might provide. Does the sensor portion attach to the wheel with some kind of tape?

Just went to local tire shop and had them install 4 new ones. For 210 dollars all said and done.
Just use Autel MX sensors. They work on all frequencies, are clonable/reprogrammable using one of Autel's relatively cheap programming units, and they last forever because they utilize a motion sensor so they auto shut off when not in use.

They are a two piece unit, the top valve part pops off the sensor portion. They come in a few different styles, rubber valve or aluminum valve for example. You can get a kit pretty cheaply that comes with a programmer and four sensors.

Really they are the best bang for the buck option, hands down. None of the other brands offer nearly as much versatility or features. The Autel programming units themselves are also universal and work with all major brands, not just Autel sensors, and receive regular updates to support new cars and sensors.

A shop will charge you $200 to $300 to swap in a new set, while you can get the kit I mentioned for less than that and it'll be good for a long time, they are rated for 5 years but most people get 8-10 years out of them - very possibly your entire ownership life of the vehicle, and in the future will just require new sensors alone as the programming unit is good for a super long time.

Companies like Discount Tire make money hand over fist charging you a mega premium for constant TPMS sensor changes and often don't even tell you they are doing it until they hand you the bill, even if the sensor already on the wheel is only a couple of years old. I can pretty much guarantee you that TPMS is a huuuuge portion of Discount Tires profits and represents their highest margins by a ridiculous amount.

Is an example. Just check ebay/Amazon for various options. Think Autel has a direct site too.

@Nissan4Life Discount Tire carries both types of sensors and with our Low Price Promise, you would not pay more than our competitor. The metal version matches best to the factory sensor, but if you live back east where the metal can corrode and cause the sensor nut to seize, you would be better off with the rubber valve style.

I got the "ACLONG" brand off Amazon, $65CAD for all four. They programmed fine but the valve cores all leaked, tire shop had some spares that worked perfect.
