Always do the first at 1000 miles, second at 3000, then every 3000.

I believe in the first at 1500, then the second at 3k at which point i go syn. Change again at 6500 and then at 10000 at which point i go to a 5k interval. This may be a bit much but I am hard on vehicles and expect them to last.

on my 2001 Frontier i used Shaffers synthetic, and changed the oil every 5000 with all the highway miles i drive.

on my new 2010 i was told by the service tech, that every 3750 was recommended, and that is what i did. and they didn't see a need for synthetic, so i used their oil, Mobil 1. $44.95 every four weeks, fun, fun, too much fun.

Factory calls for it at 3750...I think I did it right around 3500 and I used Castrol dino. At about 7000 I did a semi synthetic blend. At 10k I switched to Royal Purple full synthetic

Had the dealer do my 1st free change at around 3400 miles. They did an OEM filter and Pennzoil 10w-30. I'm probably going to do it myself again with Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 and a PureOne filter soon. I've got about 4300 on it now.

Wow thats the exact same process I use. Mobil 1, Pureone oil filter and air filter, every time.
I drive hard as well.

Modern motors have higher tolerances so break-in periods are a lot shorter. Keep it in the crank for a little bit but then drain it out.

I like my process since it goes from break-in to dino to syn. My system is not written in stone or anything, it is just want I prefer to do. The use of dino vs syn is going to change your interval and it is up to the owner to decide what they are comfortable with.

I have to give props to the people in this thread. I was expecting this to become a dino vs syn thread or an I'm right, your wrong thread but it has stayed very civil. It is nice to see everyones opinions without having to worry about others picking you apart because of xyz.
