Wheel Enhancement

Has anyone ever two-toned their factory wheels? ... Using body or another colour as contrast?
Or replaced factory with colour matched rims of some kind?

I find my 2012 P4X factory rims somewhat boring and want to either spice them up or replace them altogether using body colour as the accent on factory or main colour on replacements. In my case B17 Metallic Blue is the match.

I'd be curious to see pics your enhanced wheels especially if they fit my thinking.

I though the P4X came with two tone wheels...huh let me look at that year

Nope. 2014 was the current design. Before that the wheels were a little more plain and basic and just one color.

My '10 P4X has metallic grey centers and machined spokes, Much nicer looking than the all silver version. I do prefer the current P4X wheels though.

Yes, mine are also a two tone machined aluminum but a barely noticeable boring light grey on polished aluminum. I'm just looking for a way to dress them up a bit. Or replace them with something more interesting.

I like the new 16 and up P4X wheels and think that if I painted the center spokes blue it would suit my idea, but that's a bit pricey up here in Canada. And not so sure painting my existing ones would be the right look. So, I am actually thinking back to the 60's/70's with body coloured steel wheels and chrome rings and center caps (similar to attached image) for that classic custom look.

I just wondered if anyone here has done anything similar and how it turned out.

Your 3rd pic of Pro4X rims are shared w/ Desert Runners and Pro4X from '14 to present.

Personally, I like the present 18" rims used on '14+ SL trim level.

The fun thing is on the current p4x wheels they darker portions are just painted so if you could score a set it wouldn't be hard to strip and repaint.

I called around locally and found $75/wheel for just a couple flat colors...and $95+ for other colors. Is this approx inline w/ what you paid?

Here's a couple more samples of painted steel with bright touches. One with a Chrome baby moon center cap and the other with silver painted edge ring.

I am more partial to an actual chrome trim ring instead of the silver paint.

Also included is blue painted steel winter rims that would be the wheel I would likely purchase (for the sake of saving money ;-) ) but add a chrome trim ring and center cap to.

Not quite but I have a friend of a friend that does it as a side job so he cut me a deal. Also, I sand blasted them myself. That saved me $100 from the start. If you have access to a sandblaster it will help you out.
However, $50-75 a wheel seems to be the going rate around north Georgia.

I have the Goodyear Duratrac AT but I'll never buy another set of them. They have cupped out real bad and won't balance properly. From my research, these particular tires have a history of uneven wear(cupping).

There's a place by me that will do it for 42 a wheel including soda blasting them. They do the industrial coating for where I work, but they have no idea I work here. So that would be same price for everyone.
