I bought a Murano only to find out that Connect doesn't work with a Navi package. Now I have a Frontier SV with no Navi and there are still problems. I can get Pandora (a HUGE improvement) but nothing else. No Facebook (not that I use it), no iHeart, no Google. Is this normal? Seems to be a bit misleading on Nissan's part seeing as the brochure shows my radio with Google and iHeart in a photo. Does this system work on any Nissans??

Sounds like the same problems I have with my inTouch system in my new Q50. All we have are Google search and that's it.

So the system doesn't work as advertised and I'm sure there's a CYA comment in the fine print they can point at to avoid liability. 90% a great company really isn't enough, is it?

Are there any work arounds anyone knows?

You need the app on your phone, but save the time and just ignore it. It never worked correctly. I got pandora to work once, but I had to start the stream from my phone first. Facebook only gave me an option to "check-in" but never posted it to my page. The 3rd part apps dropped support for it and even the Nissan Connect app is outdated. If you google around, you will see lots of people try different things to get it to work and they all gave up.

I only test drove a pro4x and didnt play with the stereo much. Can it stream music via bluetooth? Also can you send an address to the gps from you phone since i believe it locks you out when you drive which leads to the next question, is there a way to by pas the lockout, i know i was able to bypass my old pioneer hu with a clever you grounding loop switch that you could make or buy off ebay.

Yes

No. I'm not aware of any way to do that.

That one, I don't know.

My 2015 Pro-4X with Navigation seems to work OK most of the time...

Google, Pandora, iHeartRadio work as expected. The Google Search is often easier to use than the built in navigation voice recognition.
Facebook only works for events and posting locations. Sort of useless for any incoming messages, which is what I really care about.

Although I have TripAdvisor enabled, I have never used it.

My biggest gripe it that is occasionally just loses connection, and nothing works. Have to delete and re-pair the phone to get it all back again. I realize there is a lot going on communication-wise, but it should be more stable than it is. I'm sure the lawyers are as much to blame as the programmers...

I am working on that one... Apparently the 'motion sensing' is pulses applied to the back of the radio. (I assume from a sensor somewhere in the drivetrain)... I am working on a circuit that will simulate the pulses at a slow enough speed to fool the system into working while moving...

Probably going to be mid-June before I can devote any real time to it. Will post a circuit and build thread here when it is ready.

Thanks for the reply, so google-send-to-car only works from a desktop?
Honestly, I have never tried -- nor can I find -- the Google "send to car" feature, but my question becomes, "what physical or virtual address would Google use to identify your particular car (or in this case, head unit)?"

I see the "send to your phone" feature, but I'm not aware of any way (outside of CarPlay or the Android equivalent that shares a bluetooth connection) to send map coordinates from your phone -- or desktop -- to an installed head unit, no matter who makes it.

Thinking about it, it *might* be possible to send directions from your phone to something like a Kenwood Nav unit using the Garmin app, because the Kenwood uses Garmin map services, but that wouldn't apply (again, just guessing) to the OEM nav unit. Not even sure who Nissan uses for maps...

Sounds great! I was reading around about other nissan vehicles that have bypasses but couldn't find any info on the frontier. Does the frontier share its stereo with other models? Also does the Rockford fosgate system in the 2016 have the same touch screen as the sv?

Does this not exist on the HU?

I got Pandora to work and that's all. But the truck is only 3 days old so I'm going back to the dealer and see if they can work some magic. I do not have navi and I'm hoping I can use Google for directions. Some say that's disabled on Connect but who knows?

I too haven't been impressed with Nissan Connect. I couldn't get things to work right either.

This may be for another thread, but I don't like how the Bluetooth silences the text messages, but allows the phone to ring. I know its for safety measures, but would be nice to disable this feature. At first I thought it was due to the Nissan Connect, but when I un-installed the Connect APP, same issue.

I have been able to use the "Send to Car" once or twice. Not sure how I got to it, so it's always an effort when I do think I want to use it.

It seems to work by sending it through the Nissan Owners Portal, which in turn sends it to your phone (logged into the portal through the NissanConnect app), and eventually through bluetooth to the Nav.

Pretty convoluted process. If I know that far in advance where I need to go, I just copy the lat/lon to the USB stick and use it that way.

Good programmers could probably simplify the process greatly. The NissanConnect reminds of the 80 year old house that has been added onto 10 times. It works, but is not efficient, doesn't make sense, and since it is cobbled together, doesn't always work well...

No problem sending to my Joying Head Unit.

I just select 'send to phone' and from the list I select my Joying Head Unit. Jump in the truck and tap on the message and it fires up Maps and i'm good to go.

Something about that powerful Android Head Unit from Joying.

Hey nissan!!

Yes!! In caps!! I am yelling!!

If you are going to advertise a wizzbang system you should make sure it works and not mislead customers about functionality!! Kenwood has a system that does everything you say connect does - only it actually works!! Maybe you jackasses should talk to them and figure out how to put out a decent product instead of misleading masses of customers who will do nothing but talk **** about your worthless nissan connect system and how your customer service guys all try and pretend its the owners fault!! It doesn't work!!

Get it??

(Huh... something else that doesn't work. When you write in all caps it just puts everything in lower case. Figures...)
