The hardbody was the boxy style that ranged from 1986 (I think) -1997. I had a 1991 and it was incredibly tough. Beat it all through high school and half of college until I traded it in at 160,000 for my Frontier.

to answer the actual question, nissan used the term hardbody in thier advertsing for the truck the first few years of its run, then the commercials dropped it. my 95 was officially just a "nissan truck"

Frontier is the first truck for Nissan to put a name on,instead of calling it a truck.A friend of mine thats a diehard Toyota fan told me that the name Titan was used by Toyota along time ago.If thats true i'm suprise it didn't wind up in court fighting over the name.

That was the "official name" but the Hardbody stuck from the previous years. I thought it had something to do with the double walled pickup bed. I had a 95 KC XE.
