Hi all, hope this is the right forum, and apologies on the long post.

I am looking for a very specific model of Frontier. I want a crew cab, 4wd, manual transmission, long bed. By long bed, I mean 6'+, I don't know if there are some models that are not quite 6' so wanted to make that clear (6' is important because I will put a camper shell on it and sometimes sleep in the back, and I am 5'9" ;)).

I know that they currently make one in the SE model (and in fact, AFAIK, it's the only current truck by any manufacturer that fits this bill). But I am not sure I can afford a new truck. So I am wondering what years this truck was made, what models, etc. For ex, I have seen older XE's that look like they may be what I am seeking, but I am not sure. I also think I have seen some beds listed as 5.75', which is close but would be just a little short (and I don't know if that was considered the "long bed" at some point).

Also, if anyone has any advice on how to go about finding a used truck that fits this criteria (search terms, places to search, etc), I'm all ears.

Thanks!

yea your only choice in 2nd gen frontiers (2005+ models = "2nd gen") is a '07+ CC long bed SE manual, you can get it in 2 or 4wd depending on preference. in the first gens (1999-2004) i can't specifically remember ever seeing a CC long bed manual but they probably did make some. i may be wrong, just not something i've ever seen stated one way or the other.

They also made the 1st gen (i think 2003+) in CC long bed with the 5 speed manual.

I am thoroughly confused. For ex., I search and find things like this: 2003 Nissan Frontier XE Crew Cab 4x4 which says "long bed" but some of the the pictures make the bed look shorter than 6'. I realize that is an automatic, just using it as an example.

The transmission thing is the one negotiable aspect (though I really want to stick with a manual, pun intended), but I'm really looking for 4wd, crew cab long bed.

yep 2003 and 2004 I know for sure came in CC LB 4WD 5SP. I have an 03 but it's auto. my trim level is XE and I know they came in the supercharged trim also I test drove a 5sp but went with the auto. Look at the first gens from 2002 to 2004 and you will find what you're looking for. If you will be carrying a camper then don't budge on the 5sp. These things don't have alot of power

If you can swing a 2007 or newer that would probably be best for towing a camper. Nothing like an extra 60hp to get you over the hump...lol
otherwise you can find a 1st gen for fairly cheap

Not really planning on towing a camper. Though certainly would prefer a truck with some power! Used to own a 91 Nissan King Cab Pickup, and that little 4 cylinder engine, though it ran well, was a dog on the Colorado mountain roads that I drive on!
