I've always been told and been under the impression that stock 265/75/16 is considered a 32" tire and 285/75/16 is a 33" tire. I know that most 265's are 31.7-32 and most 285's are 32.7-33".

BTW...for reference:

BFG Mud Terrain KM2's BFGoodrich Tires | Mud-Terrain T/A® KM2 | Tire Sizes & Specs
285/75/16 = 33.1"
265/75/16 = 31.9"
33x12.50x15 = 32.8"

Kumho MT KL71's Kumho Tires Size Chart
285/75/16 = 32.8"
265/75/16 = 31.9"
33X12.50R15 = 32.3"

ProComp Mud Terrain Pro Comp Radial Mud Terrain Tires - Mud Terrain Truck Tires, Pro Comp Tires
265/75/16 = 32.0"
285/75/16 = 33.1"
33x12.5x15,16,17 = 32.5"

IMO 285/75/16 is considered a 33" tire. Stock Nismo 265/75/16 is a 32" tire.

Am I crazy?

I know my 285/75/16 Cooper STT's measure in at 33.1, i will say it depends on the company. Here's some info to back up what im saying
Cooper Tires - Tire Specifications

Your not crazy. Its just if its over .5 then they round it up to the nearest inch. For bragging rights and just because no one goes around saying
"Yeah i have a 32.6" tire beat that". If that makes sense.
