If I am able to get a new Frontier, it will be a King Cab. But which one? I am about 25 miles to pavement but need an economic, reliable truck. So which King Cab do YOU think I should get?
the XE 4cyl., MT
The SE 2wd 6cyl.
or the SE 4x4

Anything with 4x4 by far. holds value much better. The V6 or V4 are probably fine, and I'd consider a Manual Tranny too, more economic.

You want to get rid of the 05? any reason?
4x4

No I'll keep my 05 CC (but it has 128K on it)
If all you need is something reliable, without a lot of power (seeing as how you're keeping your 2005, which will give you that) go for the 4cyl. Does the 4cyl have the option of 4wd?

No, the 4cyl comes only as 2wd.
Okay then...I guess I'll stick with my original answer still because you're 05 is 4X4
the earlier first gens were 4x4 with 4cylinders like pee wees truck
25 miles from pavement? There's no way I would want to be without a 4 x 4. I could spit to pavement and I wouldn't want to be without the 4 wheel drive option. Yeah, you have the '05 now, but dollars to donuts you sell that soon after you get the new truck.
he could pirate the 4x4 out of the '05 and put in an XE for fun. haha.
2wd 4cyl.

less stuff to break
Get the 4cyl and turbo it :D
Get an SE 4x4 6sp best of both worlds with the VQ40DE and 4wd and good fuel economy expect about 20 mpg with 87 octane. Besides that the Q25DE is garbage ask any Nissan tech worth their weight and they'll tell you it's probably Nissan's worst motor, I've personally seen far to many kick the bucket well before 100k (used to sell Nissans).
When I started this poll, I was leaning towards the 4cyl XE. But the majority of the pollers here I believe are right. Today is expected to be, one of, if not the most severe rainfal for a 72 hr period in my area. As I left the house this morning, there was flash flooding already and I pulled a truck out that was stuck a few miles in and turned around because the worse is yet to hit later today. I may end up with the 4 cyl., but I shooting for the 4X4. Thanks all.

:goodjob:
idk if you could handle it but you may want to check out a tacoma thats a 4cyl and 4x4 (plz dont flame me lol)
Unless you're sitting on a stack of money I'd either just keep what I had or buy used. I can buy new but I choose to let someone else eat that first few years of depreciation. Bought a 4 year old Lexus LS430 with 30,000 miles for $25K 2 years ago (stickered for $75K) and can still get what I paid for it. Just bought a 2nd vehicle, a Frontier KC XE 4WD with 70K miles for $9,100 (book says about $11K). I should be able to drive it 2 years and almost get my money back. I know it's not as fun as buying new but I have never had a payment. Dave Ramsey told me to say this (but it's true)!
