I currently am running the stock 265/70/16 tire, and am looking to get a set of 285/75/16's for my new wheels. However I do a LOT of city driving and occasionally some 4 hour all highway trips.

Can anyone give me an idea of what this will do to my gas mileage for city and for highway? Really do not wnat to change as I drive quite a bit and do not want a significant change in gas. Any help is appreciated.

Anywhere from 1-3mpg depending on how you drive and how agressive the tires are.

If you are afraid about the mpg, stick with 265/75r16 and call it a day.

i hate to be a downer, but dont change tire size and expect the same gas mileage. it just doesnt work that way. and if you do do not post threads up on how your bigger tires ruined your mileage thank you

Thanks for the input, and this is what i figured, just wnated to know if anyone that has put this size on can tell me what it did, not an assumption. I really like hard evidence.

However the reason I am considering a change is that I have the stock tires on a 9 inch wide rim, and I want the tread itsself I little bit wider. Any one have the same thoughts or a tire size that did this for them without killing the MPG?

What rims do you have that are 16x9?

you may have issues if you are stock ride heigth with rubbing. and if you just want more width try a 285 70 16 or (not sure if its even a good size) 285 65 16

An inbetween size could be a 275/70.

I have a set of AR trench chrome wheels and are 16x9. Thought about doiind the 285 65 tires, but not sure how that would look since i have a 2 inch lift all around.

the 285 65 is only .02" smaller in overall diameter than the 265 70 so they will look essentially the same only wider

the 285 70 is 1.1" taller than the 265 70

Nobody makes that size thou. Well, I take that back, they make it but you are limited to 1 tire only.
