I did mine the same, mounted it under the tailgate handle on the left side. Mine looks kind of what a factory camera looks installed (I think):Finished installing backup camera on my Frontier today. Mounted camera under tailgate handle, didn't like that location so i moved it to the license plate. Plug and play is what the ad stated. Three phone call to technical support and it works now. It was a big pain in the a$$ but got it done. Like i stated in one of my posts, it fights me to the bitter end. Yes just one nut or bolt or wire connection or whatever.

No epoxy, camera is designed to be mounted that way, it threaded in as a bolt with the wires running through it. I removed the inside cover of tailgate to access the inside of handle to drill a mounting hole for it, camera came in with some angle shims that helped me position it as it currently sits. I ran all wiring through, since my Frontier is a 2005, I also had to drill another hole at the bottom of the tailgate where all wiring would exit to join the rest of connections going to inside cabin and taillight, wiring inside wire loom. I think this is the camera I have:Nice![]()
How did you mount it to the handle? Epoxy?
So is that mounted on the actual handle, or into the finger well/backing?No epoxy, camera is designed to be mounted that way, it threaded in as a bolt with the wires running through it. Definitely not on the handle but mounted on the solid part behind it, shim allows the handle to swing to open tailgate without hitting or interfering with camera position. So is that mounted on the actual handle, or into the finger well/backing?
Thanks so much for the info. I don't need one for my new truck, but it's always nice to know there are good options out thereDefinitely not on the handle but mounted on the solid part behind it, shim allows the handle to swing to open tailgate without hitting or interfering with camera position.
It is connected to aftermarket Pioneer head unit, within same screen of radio. Thanks so much for the info. I don't need one for my new truck, but it's always nice to know there are good options out there![]()
Forgot to ask...how are you viewing the back-up camera? Do you have a separate viewing screen mounted somewhere??
I did mount under the tailgate handle in the begining but even after shimming, turning camera over and back and forth it showed too much of the black on tailgate.I did mine the same, mounted it under the tailgate handle on the left side. Love that Grille. Whats are the dimensions of the lettering. Height and width of the "N" and height and width of opening? Just curious if it's possible to fit "FRONTIER" lettering.Put black powder coated stainless mesh behind the NISSAN of my new grille.
How I mounted it with 10mm square extruded aluminum tubing:

Nice! Just did the same with the lettering. Used satin and still a little too shiny. Might try some flat next, but looks better than the silver. Not sure but I'll check that tomorrow afternoon for you.
I've since blacked out the NISSAN last Sunday. A little glossier than I wanted but still like it.

That's also what I used, satin. I'm just going to leave mine the way it is. I kind of like how it's different than the rest of the grille but not silver.Nice! Just did the same with the lettering. Used satin and still a little too shiny. Might try some flat next, but looks better than the silver.
