What engines fit?

Hello,

I have a 2008 Frontier with a very tired engine, 250,000 miles. I've found several low mileage 2010 and up engines. Will these fit?

Thanks::grin::

I'm no expert, but I believe Nissan has run the same engines in our Frontiers since '05 and have continued through the '17 model year. Don't see why you'd have a problem.
The only thing they changed on the VQ40DE was a part on the intake... I can't remember if it was on the upper plenum or lower manifold, but it was sometime around 2008/2009. As far as the long block assembly, 2005-and-new Frontier/Xterra and 2005-2012 Pathfinder are all the same and will work.
If you are already doing an engine swap, you could always go big and put in a VK from the titan and armada ::laugh::
I think there was also a computer remap in 2009 and again in 2013 as well. So you may need to take it to the dealer after putting the new engine in to have the computer re-flashed accordingly.
Forum member imagine-02 did this about a month ago....something about some brackets and oil pan sensors as well as the lower intake manifold as mentioned in above post.

I think the obvious choice should be a VR38DETT... they are both V6's::grin::
I have a question to which I am in critical need of help. Firstly I have a 4x4 Frontier (2005) to which the engine got damaged. I want to buy a 2018 engine with the exact specs and (Vin A) matches. Will I encounter any issues for this swap? Please advise

ATK has a 2.5L for 2005 to 2008. Will this motor work in my 2009 frontier? The JEGS guy did not know. Thanks

When I looked up a QR25DE long block for a 2009 Frontier @ NissanPartsDeal.com, it shows P/N 10102-EA0K1, fitting production date 10/2004-08/2011. So, as long as the engine is for a truck and not a car (like an Altima, which would be different), the engine "should" fit.
