$19,800 + tax and title
2017 KCab SV
2 wd, 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual
Mud flaps and 3year basic service thrown in the deal.

I looked at a basic S but wanted alloy wheels and cruise control. This SV deal turned out to be only $500 more than the S I was looking at. I would dearly love a backup camera and fog lights. I added a trailer hitch on my own.

1. OTD price (includes all tax & fees): $25670

4. King (extended) or Crew Cab: Crew
5. 4x2 or 4x4: 4x4

This was not only the one pre-owned truck with the Value Truck Package that I could find in the greater Los Angeles area, but it also had the least mileage (17k), was in the best condition, was competitively priced, and was a personal, one-owner, local truck.

Literally all of the other trucks did not have the VTP, were either previous rentals or commercial owned and/or from out-of-state and/or had double or triple the mileage and/or were in worse condition, for nearly the same price.

Mine will be a bit of a curve ball:

1. OTD price (EXcludes all tax & fees): $23500
2. State/Location: Des Moines, IA
3. Year: 2017
4. King (extended) or Crew Cab: Crew
5. 4x2 or 4x4: 4x4
6. Auto or Manual transmission: Auto
7. Class model (Xe, SE, Nismo, etc): Pro-4X
8. Engine (4cyl or V6): V6
9. Additional options, packages, or accessories included in price: Luxury Package (Heated Leather/Sunroof), Bed Extender/Hitch, Floor Mats
10. Miles - 4800

So my truck was bought from a dealer specializing in prior salvage. This truck was a theft recovery in very good shape. In body shop currently to fix front bumper that had two spots of damage ($700 estimate). Was missing Nav SD card and it had some very minor damage to tailgate and rear bumper that a cloth wrapped 2x4 and hammer fixed. Other than that it’s in pristine shape and no other issues. Whoever took it didn’t joy ride it hard. For $23.5k it was a decent deal but no factory warranty due to the history. New 2017 P4Xs locally going for $10k+ more so I’m good with it.

Did you pay cash for this truck? I've heard that banks won't lend money on salvage title vehicles.

I did a loan. My credit union I use is good with Prior Salvage. The loan officer actually said...”it blue books at $33,000” and I thought ‘you are an idiot’ as he knew it was prior salvage.

Insurance is another factor as some only do liability. My company (Nationwide/Allied) will do full coverage but I’m an existing customer and if I totaled it I would likely get the rough value for payout vs average value. But a normal wreck/repair would be the same. It’s worth checking with your bank and insurance agent before you sign the papers.

I bought a fixed prior salvage Ford Focus with 53k for my 16 yr old for $4000 a few years ago and since think it’s worth the risk given that has been a really solid car and way cheaper than others I was looking at.

There were only a couple of manual transmission SVs within several hundred miles of my home. I really wanted the manual transmission. Also, the dealer delivered it to my house in Maryland from Pennsylvania (we signed the paperwork in my living room). Saved me a four-hour round trip and having to find someone to drive me up there.

Lease 3 Yr
2018 4x4 SV Crew Cab Midnight edition
No money down 380 a month 12,000 miles a year

Good deal?
Depends how one looks at it. 3 yrs = ~$14k and nothing but memories...unless option to buy is worthwhile.
