Okay, I was trouble shooting the ABS Slip light by checking the wires to the front tire, all looked good, so I decided to back out of my garage so as not to stink it up and put it into four-wheel drive for a few seconds. Well, I turned the truck off before I put it into four-wheel drive and went to re-start it and all I get is a click.... I checked the battery connections and they are good, I actually disconnected the battery terminals and re-connected them, cleaned them off real good ( I had replaced the positive terminal about one month ago with my alternator replacement). I did not do anything else.

Any ideas, what the heck happened in that two-seconds when it was running and then trying to start it again? I have not had any problems with it starting for the past month or post alternator replacement.

Make sure it's fully in park or neutral and try again. Maybe it's the safety switch.

Okay, well, when I replaced my alternator I also took the liberty of replacing the cheesy positive terminal clamp with a marine type clamp (lead and heavy duty). Similar in construction with the clamp and wingnut screw. I noticed a little bit of play after I screwed the wingnut down so I jiggled the connection and viola it fired up.

I think I am going to replace the wingnut with a nut, reason why, because it was barely hitting the fuses on either side and I think it is preventing it from clamping down all the way and alleviating the play. So...it starts now and tomorrow I am heading to the hardware store for a nut instead.

Thanks for all the ideas guys, I love this site.
