I just wanted to put this in here for people doing searches for product info in the future. I've had bug shields on all my trucks and it's kind of been hit and miss, some good ones and some that were just ok. I did more research this time around (mainly because I was worried about fit on my 2010) and decided to try the product by WeatherTech.

This was the best deflector I've tried so far. I ordered the product at 9:45 pm on the 17th. On the 18th the order shipped FedEx overnight and I got it on the 19th. I installed the shield in about 10 minutes after work. Instructions are great, fit is perfect, product looks great, can't say enough about it. Mine actually screws into pre-existing holes in the hood. The install required removing four clips (just a few of the many) that hold a rubber seal to the hood. The tabs of the shield slide between the rubber seal and the hood and then four screws and plastic washers screw into the same holes you removed the clips from. Everything lined up perfectly and this seems much more secure than clips or 3m tape which I've used with other shields.

Anyway, whenever I look at reviews of these things there are always people complaining that they didn't fit, were hard to install, etc. I can't recall if I saw similar complaints with this one or not, but I can say that my experience with it was flawless.

Does it lip up at the back?
I had a bug deflector on my 4Runner and it was great but havent been able to find anything like that for the D40.
It actually deflected the airflow upwards so less bugs hit the front screen as well as protecting the front of the bonnet ( hood)

Shape of deflector

This picture might help show the curve a bit. It does turn up a bit in the back. It's not real high though. I think it's somewhere in between the most aerodynamic shields and the more vertical shields.
